What guests say
Had an amazing two-nights staying at The Carlton Hotel. The hotel had tasteful decoration and was immaculately cleaned. Our room had the smell of freshness upon entering and was cleaned to a high standard. The room had a fridge and table and chairs and was perfect for our stay and was also nicely decorated and carpeted. The staff which included the owner were very professional and worked hard to please guests and make their stay a pleasant experience. The hotel has a carpark at the front of the hotel and the car parking spaces were wide enough for even larger cars and space for a coach. Highly recommend to friends. Gary Watson Nottingham.

We have visited The Carlton several times over the last few years and love it. Everyone is friendly and makes us feel really welcome. The room is spacious, plenty of room to move around, as is the ensuite shower room. Plenty of food choices on the breakfast menu and, if you want half board, delicious food on the evening as well. The owners are always on hand to provide help and advice , nothing is too much trouble. We look forward to many more visits. We can really recommend The Carlton in Ilfracombe if you are down that way.

A brilliant find! We chose The Carlton because it was conveniently close to a Wedding we were attending, but we will definitely return to enjoy this fab hotel again. It’s ideally situated so that there’s no steep hill to climb on your way back from the harbor! The rooms and public areas are beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Breakfast is amazing, and all the staff are friendly and helpful. Looking forward to returning soon. You’ll love it!

Although we didn’t end up staying at the Carlton Hotel due to a change in our plans, I still wanted to leave a review because the customer service we received was exceptional. Michael, the owner, was incredibly helpful throughout the entire booking process. I initially booked the wrong dates, and he couldn’t have been more accommodating in helping me change everything to the dates I needed. Unfortunately, we were no longer able to attend the event we had planned, but Michael remained understanding, friendly, and kind every step of the way. Every time I called the hotel, the staff were welcoming, supportive, and genuinely pleasant to speak to. It’s clear they really care about their guests and go out of their way to help. Based on our experience alone, I would absolutely recommend the Carlton Hotel. Even without staying there, we felt valued and looked after from start to finish. We will definitely be looking to book the Carlton the next time we’re planning a trip to Devon. Thank you, Michael and the team, for making what could have been a stressful situation so easy and enjoyable.
