About Carlton

London St Pancras is close enough to reach on foot, making Carlton a practical base for anyone arriving by train or heading out to explore the capital, with pubs, bars and restaurants dotted around the surrounding streets for evenings out.

Carlton has 32 rooms, kept clean with comfortable beds, though some can show signs of wear and traffic noise from the surrounding streets can carry through at night. Breakfast is served on-site, and free WiFi, a lift, luggage storage and concierge services cover the practical side of a stay. Free on-site parking is also available, a useful bonus in central London.

The location near King's Cross Station is the main draw, putting guests within easy reach of transport links across the city and further afield. For the price, it offers straightforward, no-frills accommodation for those who want to be near the stations rather than spend time in the hotel itself.

The rooms are quite dated and basic, but totally fine for a short stay as long as you’re not expecting luxury. It was the cheapest hotel we could find for our dates, so I’d say you get what you pay for. The rooms were clean, though there was quite a bit of wear and tear. We found the staff quite friendly, and they were happy to let us check in early and store our luggage after check out. The location is great as it’s just across the road from King’s Cross, but it is quite a noisy area. What really let our stay down was the lack of air conditioning. We stayed here during a heatwave when it was 38°C, and the room honestly felt like double that 🥵. Totally get that the hot weather is outwith the hotel’s control, but there was nothing available to make the room any cooler. The ceiling fan was loud and all it did was circulate hot air around the room, and the curtains didn’t block the sun or heat well enough. It was so hard to sleep in such a hot room, and we couldn’t keep the window open because of the noise outside. A large group of people who appeared to be homeless gathered across the road from the hotel every night, and there was a lot of screaming, singing and loud music late into the night, making it very difficult to get any sleep. Maybe other rooms at the hotel are quieter and cooler as we did have a street facing room that was getting direct sun through the window every day, but given other reviews I’ve seen, I’m not sure if this is the case. I think the hotel is fine for what it is, but I really wouldn’t recommend staying here during the summer. The heat is just unbearable without air conditioning or another effective way to cool the room down. Even on the coolest day, it was still far too hot in the room.

Cheap and cheaful, with out the cheerful! We booked the Carlton Hotel as it is in a great location for our early train back to Yorkshire and aftercstaying the night, that's all the positives this hotel has going for it. We called in early after an ealrly flight to leave the bags before check in and this seemed to much trouble for the lady on reception. We came back in the afternoon and a new male receptionist was just as unfriendly, no warm welcome and no help with all our luggage. When we got to the room it was small, old fashioned and lacking any sence of a relaxing place to sleep. The room is classed online as a double, but the bed was a 3/4 (occasional double) so not as described. The room was cleaned to a basic standard, but the furniture in the room could do with replacing, chipped bedside tables, dusty ceiling fan, cracked tiles in the bathroom, odd tapes ( 1 that doesn't work ) and the wall light/ razor plug didnt work. The shower was about 2.5tf x 3ft with a very rusty curtain rail and possible mould on the wall ( see pic ). The TV in the room was more like a laptop screen, smallest TV i have ever seem in a hotel room. We came back after dinner to find the front door was locked. There was a note saying "Reception will be back in 3/4 minutes" so we had to stand in the street and wait to be let in! I can only described Carlton Hotel as a very basic budget Hostal. It could be a great little hotel with basic hospitality training for the staff and some much needed improvements around the communal areas and the rooms, shame.

I stayed at the Carlton in July 2026. I arrived in the afternoon and it was very busy outside but nice and quiet inside the hotel. Olga at reception was very polite, kind and accommodating to me when I arrived with no plug for my iPhone( I had no charge) but Olga found a charger for me to use for the evening! Thank you so much Olga! rooms were quiet too, no disturbance from noise despite busy location. Good rooms, enough towels and soaps for shower, no shampoo but I always travel with my own. Thank you Carlton staff

I had a very disappointing experience with the night shift staff. The staff member with very lost hair and pale skin was extremely rude. When I returned to the hotel at around 11:30 p.m., he asked for my room number and my name, which I provided. While I was putting on my shoes, he suddenly told me to "go away." I was shocked by how disrespectfully I was treated. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable, and I don't understand why someone with such poor customer service is working here. On top of that, the internet was terrible, and it was very inconvenient that the lift couldn't be used to reach the higher floors. I have stayed at another location of the same hotel before, and honestly, the experience there was much better than at this location. The difference in service and overall quality was very noticeable. Overall, this was a very disappointing stay, and I expected much better service. For. 4 night is 450 usd
