About Citadines Trafalgar Square London
Northumberland Avenue runs down towards the Thames from Trafalgar Square, putting Citadines Trafalgar Square London within easy reach of the river as well as the square itself. It's a well-connected spot for exploring the capital, with public transport, restaurants and bars all close by, though there's no parking on site.
The hotel has 187 rooms, including accessible options, all with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and free WiFi, plus drinks available in the room. Rooms are generally spacious and kept clean, with comfortable beds, though some are a little dated in style. Staff offer concierge and porter services, and there's a lift, laundry service and luggage storage for those on the move.
Breakfast is served on site, and guests also have use of a gym, business services and meeting rooms, making the hotel practical for both leisure and work trips. Pets are welcome, and with restaurants, pubs and entertainment all nearby, there's plenty to do without straying far from Northumberland Avenue.
What guests say
The location is excellent, which is why we chose to return to it for a second stay. However, the hotel itself is in poor condition. The decor is dated, worn and dark. There is damage everywhere (baseboard seemingly damaged by water, large holes and marks on walls and doors, and dings and gouges on furniture), the window casing was very dirty, and the microwave in our room did not work well either; only one button did, the main operation's dial did not. All this demonstrates the hotel's lack of desire to fix issues and provide an inviting environment. Also, the first room that we had been assigned had a large puddle at the entrance, from a leak at the ceiling; we had a to request a different room. There is also no daily servicing of the room anymore. We would have appreciated a lounge chair in the room; as it were, there were only 2 dining chairs at the table in our studio room. Coffee service in the lobby is appreciated. The price of about 230 GBP/ night for their smallest studio room is definitely high for the poor condition of the amenities, but we opted to accept it for the convenience of the location.

My experience was disappointing. Four months later I receive a letter from a collections agency legal department stating that I owe the hotel €80. Upon receiving the collections letter I immediately reached out to the hotel and Vanessa, Senior Receptionist, handed the situation. She said I left and checked out without paying the breakfast. After experiencing an inconvenience during my stay, a member of the hotel staff informed me that breakfast would be complimentary that day as a gesture of goodwill. Based on that assurance, I accepted the offer, which is also why there is no signature from me acknowledging any breakfast charges. While I will pay the charge, this experience left me questioning the hotel’s transparency and internal communication. If a member of the staff offers a complimentary service to resolve an issue, that commitment should be honored. Otherwise, guests are left wondering whether they can rely on what they are told. For me, this was never about the money. It was about trust, consistency, and customer service and how Vanessa, Senior Receptionist of the hotel, handed the situation. A hotel’s reputation is built on keeping its promises, especially when those promises are made to resolve a guest concern. I will also be submitting a formal complaint to the corporate office so they are aware of how this situation was handled. I hope this feedback encourages better communication and accountability, ensuring future guests do not have a similar experience.

Great Location & Stylish Lobby, but Check-in Can Get Busy! Positive Points: Charming Ambience: The lobby strikes a lovely balance between classical elegance (with ornate ceiling mouldings and classic paneling) and modern design (vibrant yellow accent armchairs, honeycomb wall patterns, and stylish geometric lighting). Helpful Information Hub: There’s a clear digital display right by reception showing the local weather, time, and city highlights, which is super useful for planning the day ahead. Lobby Comfort: Plenty of comfortable seating to sit back and relax or browse magazines while waiting for your party.

I stayed at Citadines Trafalgar Square London during my time in London in Nov 2025. The biggest advantage of this property is its location. It is very central, with close proximity to the Tube, and sits right in a vibrant part of the city. Chinatown is also within walking distance, which makes it very convenient for meals and getting around. However, the hotel itself is quite dated. The overall condition feels run down, and there was a noticeable moist smell along the corridors on each floor, which was not particularly pleasant. The layout can also be a challenge. The spiral staircase is very tight and makes it difficult to carry luggage up and down — not ideal if you are travelling with heavier bags. However, generally the room is in ok condition. Facilities were also not well maintained. A few of the washing machines were out of order, which added to the inconvenience during the stay. Overall, while the location is hard to beat, the condition and upkeep of the hotel fall short. It works if convenience is your top priority.
