About Lancaster Gate Hotel
Free on-site parking is the standout feature at Lancaster Gate Hotel, a rarity for a property so close to central London. With 196 rooms, this is a sizeable hotel occupying 66-71 Lancaster Gate, within easy reach of Hyde Park and Paddington Station, making it a practical base for both sightseeing and onward travel.
Rooms come with air conditioning and the usual comforts expected of a hotel this size, though upkeep can be inconsistent from room to room, so it is worth flagging any issues to staff on arrival. Guests have access to a restaurant and bar on-site, along with breakfast, free WiFi, a lift and luggage storage, useful for those arriving early or leaving late. Service is generally friendly, though not always consistently attentive.
The surrounding area has plenty going on, with pubs, restaurants and other eateries all nearby, plus entertainment options within walking distance. Given its position near Hyde Park and good transport links, the hotel suits visitors who want to explore central London without paying premium rates for the privilege.

Lancaster Gate Hotel was an excellent place to stay during my London writers conference and a nice change from some of the larger, busier hotels in the city. One of the things I liked most was the location. It sits in a quieter neighborhood near Hyde Park, which made it feel more relaxed while still providing easy access to the rest of London. As the author of The Grant Colson Thriller Series novels, I spend a lot of time traveling for conferences, events, and research, so I appreciate hotels that balance convenience with a good night’s sleep. Lancaster Gate Hotel delivered on both. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and well maintained, and the hotel itself has a classic London feel that fits the surrounding neighborhood. The breakfast spread was solid with plenty of options to start the day before heading out into the city. The staff was also consistently friendly and helpful throughout our stay. One thing I especially appreciated was their help arranging a very early morning taxi to Heathrow. Our departure was so early that relying on the Tube would have been difficult, and they made the process easy and stress-free. Funny enough, while working on the Maui Desire Romance Series, I found myself paying more attention to smaller neighborhood hotels like this. They often have more character and a stronger sense of place than larger chain properties. A comfortable hotel, helpful staff, and a great location for exploring London.

The room was dated, but it was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay, which made me feel welcome. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations. However, I received several email updates in the months leading up to my stay, so I knew exactly what to expect. I also experienced very little disruption from the renovation work itself. As a gesture related to the renovation work, I was also offered a refund for the breakfast, which I appreciated. The location is a major advantage. Both Kensington Gardens and Paddington Station are within walking distance, making it easy to get around London. One tip for anyone staying here to attend an event at the Royal Albert Hall: keep in mind that Kensington Gardens is closed in the evening. If you are walking back after a concert, you may need to take a significant detour around the park.

We recently celebrated my 60th birthday in London and stayed at this hotel. Although we had 1 of the old rooms which was in desperate need of an upgrade which will be happening very soon I'm sure, the staff were truly amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for them and when I had a medical issue on our last day, the staff looked after me with such professionalism and genuine concern. We can't thank them enough for what they have done and look forward to staying here again after the refurbishment.

Exactly what we expected and we needed nothing more. Perfect location, friendly and helpful staff and the room was very clean. The ongoing construction didnt bother us at all - it was explained to us during the booking process. Can't wait to see when it is all done. We will definately be staying here again and recommend it to our friends and family.
