Stearn Cottage
Mid Suffolk

Walk through the front door of Stearn Cottage and you step into a living and dining space with original brick flooring and a wood burner at its heart. The room opens directly onto a south-facing patio through French doors, as do two of the three bedrooms—a layout that dissolves the boundary between indoors and out on good days. A sofa that converts to a double bed offers flexibility if you need it, while the fully equipped kitchen has everything required for cooking from scratch: oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and a washer-dryer tucked in.
Upstairs, reached by a steep flight of steps, a galleried twin room sits under the eaves. The main bedrooms—one double, one twin—are both ground floor, each with those patio doors. A single bathroom serves the whole property, with both bath and shower. One dog is welcome. The cottage sits within a working farm in the heart of Mid Suffolk; Bury St Edmunds and Diss are nearby. Essentials such as electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are provided, along with initial fuel for the stove. There is parking for two cars on site, a garden with furniture, and a children's play area within the grounds. No smoking inside.

What guests say
Nice looking cottage but only really suitable for 4 people. Advertised as 8. We had 5 adults and 3 children, far far to small. (To be fair this is obvious when booking but I didn't book). Only one double bed! Our twin room had absolutely no clothes storage and 3 clothes hangers for 2 people! Night storage heater very difficult to find a comfortable heat, either freezing or sickeningly hot. No room once cot added to bedroom, can hardly move around. Kitchen is ok. Bathroom nice but extractor fan doesn't do a good job, so must open window. Living area small, only 2 small 3 seat sofas and only 6 chairs around dining table. Top bedroom up a set of very steep stairs, not suitable for small children or elderly, or anyone who's had a glass of wine or two! Absolutely nothing in the surrounding area, unless you want to drive at least 30 mins. Nearest pub is about 40 min walk. MUST NOTE even when pre downloading Google maps the GPS signal is non existent so be prepared for getting lost. No phone signal at property, but there is WiFi, 5g max. So download your films at home first. I would only recommend this place if you have 4 people max and summer time.
