Nobles Cottage stands on the site of Whitby's old smoke houses, where fish were once preserved over fire. The building sits above Tate Hill Sands in the heart of the old town, surrounded by independent shops, cafés and period pubs reached down narrow cobbled streets. Whitby Abbey is nearby, and the seafaring history that draws visitors here is written into the streets themselves.
The cottage spreads across three floors. Ground level holds a kitchen and dining space with a full range of appliances including dishwasher and slow cooker, plus a separate living room with a wood-burning stove and a downstairs toilet. The first floor has a second living area with a second television and Xbox, plus a bedroom with a 5ft kingsize bed and two single beds in a separate room, with a bathroom and shower room. On the top floor, a 6ft super kingsize bed shares a bedroom with a single bed, and there is a shower room. In total: three bedrooms, three bathrooms, sleeping seven. The essentials—heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi—are provided. The entrance to the private parking bay is through a narrow stone arch. No smoking.

Nobles Cottage has the benefit of great views over Whitby, the harbour and out to sea. Obviously well used it is looking tired in places - the carpets need a deep clean and the dated decor could do with an update. The cushion seats in the kitchen need replacing. Bathrooms are well sized and clean - the bath is not full size. Parking is an issue at this property and not for the faint hearted! The small kitchen is clean and well equipped. The welcome pack was appreciated. A wooden bench outside (like Bosuns Cottage) would be a good idea - there is no outside seating.

Absolutely perfect. Immaculate, comfortable and cosy accommodation. Views to die for and in a convenient location to explore Whitby. Already planning our next trip to this beautiful cottage. We recommend it highly

We've been going to Whitby for many years, from childhood with the parents to this trip as a family get together. Without a doubt this is the best cottage we've stayed in over the years. The cottage is wonderful and those views are amazing; we sat in the first floor living room with the window open, listening to the waves and just chatting throughout the evening - it's such a relaxing place to stay and very cosy. The car parking is tight, even with my small car I had to fold in the wing mirrors but that's only the archway, once you get through there's plenty of room to unload your car. My only complaint would be the fishermen who park outside at night to go to the pier, them firing up their cars at 1am in the morning wasn't great and on one night they did block the archway entrance but that's not the fault of the cottage owners, it's just other inconsiderate people. We'd definitely stay here again and may look to book a holiday next year.

We have been visiting in Whitby for ten years now and don't know how we missed this gem ! From start to finish it was faultless and by a long way the best cottage we have ever stayed in during our stays in Whitby . I never have I seen a cottage so well equipped from cutlery , crockery etc to appliances . This includes fridge freezer , microwave ,washing machine and dishwasher ! It has three bedrooms each with their own bathroom and also a cloakroom downstairs off the kitchen . It gets better - as there are two public rooms . One on the ground floor , the main living room , and one on the first floor . An ideal Man Cave or play room as it has it's own TV ! . We found it spotlessly clean and your towels and linen are also part of the package on offer . If you're thinking of great views in the old town part of Whitby , do not hesitate with this cottage . We will be back .
