Knoppingsholme Cottages - The Byres
Northumberland
View on Google MapsThe Byres is a detached conversion of a former dairy building on a working farm in the North Tyne Valley, between Bellingham and Kielder. You arrive into an open-plan ground floor that combines living, dining and kitchen in one generous space, with exposed beams throughout. A utility room handles laundry; a spiral stair leads up to a galleried sitting room on the mezzanine, positioned to make the most of views across the surrounding countryside and the night sky.
Three bedrooms occupy the ground floor, each with its own en-suite. The largest has a kingsize bed and a bath with shower; the other two have double and twin beds respectively. Essentials like electricity, heating, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are included. The kitchen is equipped for cooking proper meals, with an electric cooker, dishwasher and full-size fridge. One dog can stay free of charge. There is parking for four cars on site and an enclosed courtyard with patio furniture; an electric vehicle charging point is available by prior arrangement.
The property suits families or groups of friends seeking a quiet base. Northumberland National Park and the Scottish Borders are within reach, as is Kielder Water and Forest Park. The Stable and The Hemmel, two other cottages at Knoppingsholme, can be booked alongside for larger gatherings.
