About Lickisto Blackhouse Camping

Tucked away on Harris, Lickisto Blackhouse Camping offers a refreshingly different take on island camping. Alongside sheltered tent pitches, there are quirky bothies and yurts for those wanting a bit more cosiness, while a communal blackhouse with kitchen provides a sociable base whatever the weather. Campfires are encouraged, dogs are welcome, and the whole setup feels wonderfully low-key and peaceful.

The scenery around here is predictably stunning, and the friendly welcome adds to the appeal. Fair to say the facilities can feel a touch basic in places, but if you're after somewhere simple, secluded and genuinely characterful on one of Scotland's most beautiful islands, this fits the bill nicely.

Site was decent and our campervan pitch quite protected from wind. The communal blackhouse for washing etc was good. Main complaint is toilet for vans and bothy, yurts. Only 1 toilet, no hot water at sink which I think is unacceptable. There was hot water at the other toilet but that was a long way from the vans and more intended for tents.

I would definitely recommend Lickisto. We stayed in the Bothy and were very comfortable. There's a well equipped kitchen with everything you need. A few bits and pieces probably need looking at considering the pricing. Nothing major just some touches and details, these old properties do need constant attention. I understand how hard it is to provide services in such remote places so for that reason understand the additional costs....but some improvements can be made for very little cost. On the whole though I would recommend and its a stunning coastline location.....the Bothy bed was very comfortable and we were warm even though in May we still had poor weather conditions...very very peaceful and tranquil place. Thanks guys :)

What a gem of a site. This place is clearly a project of passion. Offering secluded tent sites, camper hard standings with hook up, a converted cattle shed bothy, yurts and a communal traditional black house. Situated on the beautiful banks of a Loch with a loo with a view to behold. Greig and Lauren have lovingly created a magical place for us to visit and share. Thank you.

Really fun campsite, would highly recommend for anyone in a tent (though I car-camped). There’s a super cosy common area with sofas and electric plugs, so it’s a great campsite to visit regardless of weather.
