Pen Y Graig Treehouses - Gwdw Hw
Powys
Photo: Google Maps
You climb wooden stairs into a single open room suspended among the trees. Gwdw Hw is a handbuilt treehouse in rural Powys that works for a couple wanting something different, or two adults with up to three children. The main space combines living area, kitchen and sleeping in one, with a woodburner at its heart, a gas hob for cooking, and enough seating for everyone to eat together. One double bed and three smaller beds—bunks and a day bed—are arranged so that each has a view out through the large windows into the canopy around you. An external shower room sits beneath the structure; the toilet is on its own platform nearby.
The real character comes from what surrounds it. Decking with rope bridges connects between trees, there are hammocks slung between branches, and a sitting area for watching the woodland. At night you can stargaze from bed. During the day, buzzards circle overhead and you might spot squirrels leaping between limbs. A stream runs nearby. There is one parking space on site. The treehouse does not permit smoking. Bed linen is provided; you'll need to bring towels. This is a genuine step away from ordinary holiday lets—the kind of place where children find their own entertainment in the trees while adults remember how to sit still.
