Pen Y Graig Treehouses - Ty Mawr
Powys

Rural mid-Wales has plenty of converted barns and stone cottages, but Ty Mawr stands apart: a treehouse built into the canopy of Pen Y Graig, in Powys. It sleeps five across a double bed, two bunks and a day bed, all positioned to frame views of the surrounding woodland through large windows. The single open-plan living space contains a kitchen with gas hob and cooking facilities, a dining area, and a wood burner that dominates the room in cooler months. An external shower room sits beneath the structure, along with a composting toilet on its own platform.
Access is via spiral stairs. The decking wraps around the treehouse with rope bridges, hammocks and garden furniture creating a series of outdoor spaces at canopy level. A stream runs through the valley below, and the site includes private parking. Bed linen is provided; bring towels and toiletries. The location suits families after something genuinely different, or couples wanting to retreat from everyday life. No smoking inside.
Snowdonia National Park lies within an hour's drive, offering serious hiking and climbing. Closer adventure centres run archery, kayaking and zip-lining. The property works just as well if you simply want to stay put, watching for buzzards and squirrels from the treehouse itself.
