Penybont Barn works well for couples or families of four looking for a rural base in Powys. The conversion retains period features—exposed beams and stone walls—while offering modern comfort. Downstairs are two bedrooms with kingsize beds and a bathroom with bath and shower. Upstairs, an open-plan living space combines kitchen, dining and sitting areas, where you can watch a film on the Chromecast or warm yourself by the electric fire.
The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking: electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. A utility room covers heating and hot water. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included. Outside, an enclosed lawned garden with patio and furniture opens onto views towards the mountains; there's parking for three cars on site. A small stream runs nearby.
The barn sits in Llangorse village with two pubs within walking distance. The lake itself offers water sports and fishing; local hills are crossed by footpaths, bridleways and mountain-bike routes. Brecon, five miles away, has shops, cafés and the Theatr Brycheiniog. The Mon & Brec canal passes through Talybont-on-Usk a short drive south. Hay-on-Wye's bookshops and literary festival are sixteen miles further. One pet is welcome; smoking is not.
