A four-star seafront hotel with Jurassic Coast views, an AA Rosette restaurant and the Source Spa & Wellness facility.

About Victoria Hotel

The Victoria Hotel sits at the western end of Sidmouth's esplanade, a substantial Victorian building with sweeping views across Lyme Bay and the red cliffs of the Jurassic Coast. It holds an AA four-star silver rating and positions itself firmly at the upmarket end of the town's accommodation, with an emphasis on traditional standards of service alongside more contemporary extras.

The Jubilee Restaurant holds an AA Rosette for its cooking, while the Source Spa & Wellness facility adds a heated pool, sauna and steam room rarely found in a town-centre hotel of this size, making it a popular choice for a longer, more restorative stay rather than a single overnight.

Its scale and grounds set it apart from Sidmouth's smaller boutique hotels, and it is well suited to guests wanting spa facilities, sea views and formal dining all under one roof, within a short level walk of the town centre and beach.

This hotel is brilliant, traditional service done really well. The staff are all super helpful and always happy (authentic, rather than being told to smile, genuinely feels like everyone wants to be there). The food is excellent. Great views, brilliant location. We just had a big group family holiday there and they made it really special. The hotel is not cheap but if you can go, highly recommend it. Loads of little touches, great facilities, brilliant place. Big thanks to Paul and the team for a brilliant stay and good luck to Aiden with his ride!

The staff were great, we enjoyed the facilities and the atmosphere was very relaxing. I didn’t catch the name of the lady who served us lunch in Bertie’s Bar, but we had lunch on 31st May. She had a great sense of humour and made lunch very enjoyable. I must also highlight the professionalism of Tegan and Sadie in the Spa, and how well they looked after us. Thank you very much all, for everything!

Fantastic family-run seaside hotel. The staff standout here because they are friendly and professional, but more importantly they all seem really happy to be working there. The restaurant is excellent with great service, food and atmosphere. The spa is well equipped and clean though not that large, so can feel quite full of you go at a busy time.

We took our mum to the Victoria hotel Sidmouth for afternoon tea and had a very poor experience. Initially we were greeted with friendliness from the doorman which was the best part of the experience- lovely man. After that, the staff seemed uninterested and showed a lack of attentiveness. I had also overheard the staff talking negatively about customers when I had left for the restroom. The thing that I found really poor was that we had asked for additional sandwiches (thinking that this was included with the afternoon tea, as this is how other afternoon teas I have attended have functioned) and found £20 to be added to our table having already paid a sizeable amount for the experience. If there was clarity around the additional cost we wouldn’t have ordered more but like I said the staff didn’t show any attentiveness. I spoke with the manager after paying for the additional cost his response was also poor, saying that it was the way they had always done it. Be aware, customer service is poor at this hotel, and I wish I had taken my mum somewhere else for a better less awkward experience.
