About Pasture Pitches

This small pop-up site on a working farm near Skipton makes an ideal base for serious walkers – it sits just off the Dales Way, so you can literally step from your tent onto the long-distance path, while the more demanding Dales High Way is about a mile away. Beyond the big trails, you're spoilt for choice: riverside rambles, the Valley of Desolation waterfall walk, and routes around Embsay Crag (a popular bouldering spot too). Non-walkers will find plenty to explore, from the stunning Stump Cross Caverns to Bolton Abbey's atmospheric ruins and the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway.

Facilities are basic – portable toilets and showers – but the location and scenery more than compensate. Skipton's shops and eateries are 15 minutes' drive, or you'll find two pubs just five minutes away in Appletreewick. You're welcome to bring a barbecue and there's space for gazebos or awnings if the weather turns.

A perfect place for a relaxing break. Beautiful grounds, with a lake, trees and lots of wildlife. We stayed in the Foxclove hut, which is beautiful and right on the edge of the lake. A taxi to York costs around £12 and would also recommend a visit to nearby Cawood, with breakfast at the Village Tea Room. We will definitely stay again!

Hi all, if your looking to escape into complete bliss this is the perfect location, beautiful location approachable owners. The shepards hut was very clean, modern, exceptional shower, the bed pulled out into a double, the pillows and matress very comfortable, i personally found were you push the 2 mattresses up to eachother one matress escapes the other and leaves a gap which was slightly uncomfortable but could have been something i hadent done properly when converting into a double. Overal we would come back for a longer stay for sure...... Many thanks Paul

A great find, what a lovely little site, if you're looking for somewhere nice and quiet, this is the perfect place. Only a short drive to York. Very peaceful in a lovely setting, the owners were friendly but left us to it. Great little site, We'll definitely be going back there.
