About Moxy Southampton by Marriott

Southampton's harbourside is built around cruise traffic, shopping and a steady flow of restaurants and bars, and Moxy Southampton by Marriott sits right on Harbour Parade in the middle of it. With 208 rooms, it's a sizeable base for anyone passing through the port or exploring the city, and the location puts cruise terminals, shops and eateries within easy reach on foot.

Rooms are en-suite with air conditioning, though some have been reported to run warm despite this. Family rooms and accessible rooms are available, and each comes with drinks on hand for guests who want them. Breakfast is a particular strength, with a solid choice of hot dishes, pastries and fruit, while the on-site restaurant, bar and snack bar cover other meals, and packed lunches and kids' meals can be arranged. There's also a gym, a games room, meeting rooms and business facilities for those combining work with their stay.

Staff are consistently described as attentive and welcoming, which helps smooth over the practical limitations of the site: there's no parking available, so guests arriving by car will need to plan for that. Pets are welcome, and beyond the hotel doors there's fishing and golf nearby along with the usual pubs and restaurants that make the harbour area easy to settle into.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Moxy Southampton was the perfect place to stay before our cruise. The location couldn't have been more convenient—just a short trip to the cruise terminal, making embarkation day easy and stress-free. The hotel has a fun, modern vibe with stylish décor and welcoming common areas. The staff provided excellent service from check-in to checkout and made us feel right at home. Our room was comfortable, with a very cozy bed and a Nespresso coffee maker, which was a nice touch. One thing to note for North American travelers: the hotel does not provide washcloths, so plan accordingly if that's something you typically use. Breakfast was excellent, with a delicious variety of hot items, pastries, yogurt, meats, cheeses, fruit, and more. The standout for me was the Americano coffee machine—it made a fantastic cup of coffee and was the perfect way to start the day. Overall, Moxy Southampton is a great choice for anyone cruising from Southampton. The combination of its convenient location, comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast, and friendly service made for a fantastic stay.

Nouveaux experience for a hotel. Upbeat and positive, extremely convenient for our purposes of being in Southampton England for a Cruise. Simply provided all the needs for a fun and neat overnight stay. The room was clean, contemporary and equipped with the essentials. The stay was quiet with no residual noise or other disturbances. The bed was comfortable and adequate for our stay. The overnight experience was both comfortable and very adequate for our requirements. Thank you for all that.

When we first arrived at Moxy Southampton, I honestly thought I might be leaving a one-star review. Thankfully, by the end of our stay, my opinion had changed quite a bit. First impressions were great. The hotel has a fun, modern vibe, and checking in at the bar was a clever touch that immediately sold us on the experience. We even added breakfast to our reservation on the spot. The location is also excellent—we were able to walk around Southampton, see everything we wanted, and were back at the hotel after only about a mile of walking. Our first room was clean, simple, and comfortable, but it was noticeably warm. The window had been left open with the air conditioning running, so we closed it expecting the room to cool down while we were out. Unfortunately, it never really did. That evening we used our Marriott Bonvoy drink vouchers, only to discover the hotel had run out of ice. No cocktails were being served unless you were happy with them warm, and the vouchers were only valid for a pre-batched cocktail that also wasn’t being served because… there was no ice. It was definitely a frustrating moment. Back in the room, the air conditioning still wasn’t doing its job. There are no phones in the rooms, so I called the front desk from my mobile. They didn’t have any fans available, but after a second call, a staff member came upstairs, confirmed the AC wasn’t performing as it should, and immediately offered to either clean the filter or move us to another room. We chose to move, and fortunately the new room was just down the hall and the air conditioning worked perfectly. I wouldn’t describe the service as exceptional, but the staff were polite, and once they realized there was a genuine problem, they resolved it quickly. After the rough start, I was even considering canceling breakfast. I’m very glad I didn’t. Breakfast was outstanding for this category of hotel. Fresh sourdough bread, excellent bangers, pastries, and a surprisingly good selection made it one of the biggest highlights of our stay. It far exceeded what I expected from a hotel at this price point. Is this my favorite hotel? No. It’s a no-frills property with a few operational hiccups during our stay. But it’s clean, in a fantastic location for the cruise terminal, serves an excellent breakfast, and the staff ultimately made things right. If I were cruising out of Southampton again, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here.

I often stay in the Moxy Hotel for work. The staff are always super friendly. Rooms are clean and spacious. The bar is a great place to hangout if you want to be social. Location is ideal, close enough to the city centre but also just enough distance out of it to be away from any noise. Always look forward to my next stay!
