About PS Apartments

PS Apartments occupies a contemporary building on Portland Street in Southampton, designed around self-catering rather than traditional hotel rooms. The block has a lift and 24 hour reception, so arrival at odd hours or with heavy luggage is straightforward, and pets are welcome for those travelling with animals in tow.

Each apartment comes with its own kitchen and en-suite bathroom, making it a practical choice for longer stays or families who want to cook rather than eat out every night. Family rooms are available, and free WiFi runs throughout the building, useful for guests mixing work with their visit.

The location puts pubs, bars, restaurants and entertainment venues within easy reach, and there's also fishing, watersports and a golf course nearby for those wanting to fill their days outdoors. It's a straightforward, well-equipped base for exploring Southampton, though with a rating around 3.1 out of 5, it suits guests after functional self-catering space over polished hotel extras.

We booked a 1 nights stay here as the pictures made the place look clean and tidy but It was the complete opposite. Upon arrival there was cleaning stuff blocking the main entrance door and there was a bag of stuff in the lift we needed to use to get our luggage to the top floor. The room itself was dirty and dusty, there was even a dirty towel left on the floor. The beds were uncomfortable and pillows very thin. The radiator was left on and no option to turn it off as the dial had been broken off and just resting on top. Location wise it was very easy to get to and from st Marys stadium.

If you’re thinking of booking this place then kindly do yourself a huge favour and don’t bother! What an absolutely filthy dump! Undoubtedly the worse and most disgustingly filthy place I have ever stayed in. A real shame because the investment to get this place to get it what it is was clearly not inconsiderable. That said the cleanliness and facilities where absolutely disgusting. Corridor floor strewn with dirty sheets and towels from previous stays literally blocking access to your room and everyone else’s. Communal area carpets, windows etc are absolutely filthy. Even the stair bannisters were sticky, lord only knows for what reason! In the room we had seven windows all of which looked grubby and were thick with dust as were the blinds covering them. The shower cubicle was mouldy and dirty, the shower holder was broken, the tubing unraveling and the water dips in and out of pressure continuously and then gives you blasts of scolding hot followed by freezing cold water. The toilet seat was stained with urine and not fixed to the toilet, the bowl grubby and filthy. I washed items in the kitchen as I didn’t trust they were clean, one mug was filled with ancient black stains and the dribbles of tea from the last users mouth. We had one fork between us both. Everything felt grubby, tired and disgusting. I bought dettol wipes to clean everything with to reduce out chances of getting ill. Complete dump and should be immediately condemned by health inspectors whom I will be reporting this filth pile to. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! They deserve to go bust for the absolute micky taking, filthy rip off this utter boil of the butt of the hotel trade this rank pig pit is! Gave it one star because I had too, given a choice it would get no stars at all!

Horrible place i stayed here for a week and it was horrible the place is dirty, everything is full of limescale the bed is uncomfortable and dirty. While i stayed here the fire alarm woke me up 3 times in different days. No service to clean or even maintain the rooms, the heating didn’t work as well i had to sleep with my jacket on and the sockets were burnt and didn’t work at all, AWFULL i regret choosing this place never coming back.

Avoid at all costs! Spend £20 more and stay in a decent hotel. The mattress and bed sheets were very worn, and you could see the springs. Sleeping on that bed was uncomfortable. The room was close to the high street, but it was a noisy area. The damp and dirty rooms were a disappointment. The property misled people on Booking.com with photos and reviews that were above 7, but when I arrived, I found the room in a terrible state. I left an hour after check-in and booked a hotel room instead. I’ve been waiting for a refund for a couple of weeks now, but they’re very unprofessional and don’t seem to care. Avoid and do not waste your time and money here.
