About Black Bull Gartmore
Anyone touring Stirling for the walking, cycling or simply the countryside will find the Black Bull Gartmore a fitting base for a few nights, or a good stop for a meal along the way. It's a traditional inn on Main Street, built around a restaurant and bar that draw as much local trade as overnight custom, with the kind of log fire and cosy atmosphere that suits an evening in after a day outdoors.
Rooms are en-suite and comfortable, and breakfast is included, so there's little to arrange beyond turning up. Reception operates around the clock, drinks can be brought to your room, and the bar and restaurant cover most evenings without needing to go elsewhere. The kitchen has built a solid reputation for its steak pie and fish and chips, made with locally sourced ingredients, and prices are fair rather than inflated for visitors. Staff are consistently attentive and the welcome is genuine rather than rehearsed.
The inn also works as a wedding venue, and its Main Street setting puts guests within reach of golf, cycling and walking routes, along with other pubs and restaurants nearby for those who want to explore beyond the one address. It's a straightforward, well-run stop for anyone wanting Scottish countryside without fuss.

Absolutely DYNAMITE. Scran here was superb! Locally sourced product, and served with a bit of heart. The food was absolutely excellent. Seafood bisque packed with hearty flavours topped with cheesy garlic croutons, class. Lamb stew with a thick gravy, class. Sirloin steak was unbelievable juicy, class. Steak pie with a fresh crust, class. Chefs chicken and Cullen skink sucker punching your taste buds, class. Topping all that off with hand pulled man ahoy, goodness me this place is great for a hearty Scottish meal. Absolutely top marks from me on serving locally sourced produce in such a lovely setting. The whole place is decorated with the history of the local area which is such a nice touch. Felt like a proper local family run establishment and cannot express enough how friendly and helpful the staff were during service. Now I just need to stay a couple nights there!! Thanks for an excellent meal at a good price! Cheers :)

Took my brother and sister in law to the blackbull on 11th July for a meal and my brother who is well travelled for work said this is one of the best meals he has had, it is up there with the best of the best restaurants. We come often because of the great food and service and the community of gartmore and owners should be proud of what they have achieved, the place is looking amazing and would definately recommend the black bull. Thankyou to the chefs who work hard behind the scenes and the girls serving Excellent once again Fay

We didn't stay here , but we definitely ate in the restaurant and will be doing it again soon. We walked in without a booking but the staff made us feel welcome and not an inconvenience. Food wise it was lovely the steak pie and chunky chips especially the chips were amazing . My hubby had the chicken stuffed with haggis as he loves the stuff 😆 and the desserts were delicious too 😋
