About Mary Tavy Inn
Out towards the moorland fringe at Lane Head, on the road into Tavistock, Mary Tavy Inn sits within easy reach of Dartmoor National Park's open hills and walking routes, with Devon's countryside spreading out around it. It's a compact hotel with just four rooms, each en-suite and fitted with air conditioning, making for a quiet, personal stay rather than a large hotel experience.
The kitchen and bar are the heart of the place, with a restaurant known for generous, well-presented food, particularly the Sunday roast and the steak and ale pie. Breakfast is included, and there's a garden to sit out in when the weather allows, along with an indoor swimming pool, gym, and spa or sauna for guests who want to make more of their stay. Free WiFi, luggage storage, and accessible rooms are all provided, and the inn also hosts weddings and meetings.
Dogs are welcome throughout, and free on-site parking makes it easy to head straight out to Dartmoor for walking, cycling, or horse riding, with fishing and watersports also available nearby. Pubs, restaurants, and entertainment in the surrounding area add to the options for evenings out beyond the inn's own bar and dining room.
What guests say
I cannot compliment The Mary Tavy Inn enough, they were welcoming, made my visit (anniversary) personal and special, and quite honestly I haven’t had a meal that luxuriously tasty in a long time! I felt like I was dining at a Michelin star, it was incredibly delicious, locally sourced, well-presented, and the service was impeccable. WHAT A PLACE! If you haven’t at least dined at The Mary Tavy Inn, then you should start there.

Came here for a family get together and meal. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was excellent and prices around average. I can recommend the syrup pudding, it's almost like the one my mother used to make. Gentlemen have a look at the up cycled beer keg urinals.

Family evening meal whilst on holiday in the area. All four of us had different meals, which we all greatly enjoyed. Personally had the steak & jail ale pie, which was exceptional, as was the fruit crumble. Great friendly service, with the pub also having many interesting items on the walls to look at. Would definitely look to return when next in the area.
