Farmer Oak's Hut is a shepherd's hut standing within its own walled garden, near Okehampton in West Devon. The single bedroom sleeps two in a double bed, and there is one shower room. Everything is on the ground floor. The open-plan living space has an electric woodburner and dining area, while the kitchen is equipped for proper cooking with both a 2-ring and electric hob, plus fridge and microwave. Electricity, bed linen and towels are included; fuel for the woodburner costs £6 per basket after the initial supply.
The enclosed garden is the real draw. It includes a sitting area, outdoor cooking space, and direct access to a signposted woodland walk that crosses a stream via a wooden bridge. The grounds also contain an unfenced stream, so this matters if you're traveling with children. The hut sits within a small orchard and wildflower meadow surrounded by mature trees, giving genuine seclusion while remaining just a 10-minute drive from the A30. An award-winning farmshop and four pubs lie within 3 miles. Tavistock and Launceston are 8 miles away; Dartmoor National Park is roughly 7 miles to the west at Lydford. North Cornwall's beaches are under 40 minutes' drive, and Roadford Lake—5 miles distant—offers fishing and water sports. No smoking indoors. Private parking for one car is on site.

We spent over a week at farmer oak's hut and it was amazing! Beautiful and well equipped caravan with a great garden. The forest around is stunning with huge old trees and you can take great walks from there! Andrew is a very caring and friendly host. Highly recommended!

A very special place tucked away in a secret part of the west country. Ideal for a couple or single person who love cosy getaways surrounded by beautiful countryside.
