Blencathra is a converted barn on a working farm between Keswick and Penrith, sleeping four across two bedrooms. Everything needed for a self-catering stay is supplied: electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, with an electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge and freezer, while the living area has a TV, DVD player and wood-effect electric stove. There's a bathroom with a walk-in shower on the ground floor, plus a separate toilet, and the first floor opens into a spacious living and dining zone with views across to the surrounding fells.

The property comes with an enclosed garden and sitting area, parking for two cars, and a bike store. A shared games room offers pool and table tennis if you fancy a break from walking. Dogs are welcome and stay free; kennels are also available. The farm is rural but well-positioned: the village of Mungrisdale is two miles away with a pub and restaurant nearby, while Keswick with its shops and leisure centre is seven and a half miles off. Local walks start from the door, and Derwentwater, Ullswater and Thirlmere are all within easy reach. Cyclists benefit from quiet country lanes, and Keswick Golf Course is one and a half miles away. Non-smokers only.

Hubby wanted to tackle this mountain- and what wonderful views! Mist and cloud cover to start (0730) by the time we got to the tarn it was beginning to shift and lift. Sharp edge was a challenge, not having "scrambled" before I did get pretty scared! The damp rocks and basically being scared of the edge meant it took me a long time to find the courage to do the last stretch of the scramble! BUT I did it! Recommend going with a partner or a group. We were advised to register with 999, absolutely 💯 agree! We had a spare phone with full battery- make Sure youre prepared and have snacks! Biscuits and mentors got me through! Hubby was great- led the way kept me calm and cheerleader when I finally got my self together Achievement factor -100 Scared factor (lol) 65

I climbed this mountain via halls fell ridge. Truly epic views around sunset. Little under 2 hours round trip. Do this climb! Ridge would be a bit scary if you aren’t experienced with exposure. Sheep everywhere.

A super simple trail up Blencathra via Blease Fell with great views from the start. Took this on for a final quick hike of the trip. This route is a little dull for the hikers who like a more technical route however those who want a simple trail or want a more dog friendly and straightforward trail, this is it. I feel like anyone can take on this route, the ascent is pretty steep all the way up so there may be some quick rest stops. The paths are clear, wide and easy to follow, nothing technical. Ended up in the clouds so visibility wasn't great but the path was wide enough and simple enough to not worry at all. The parking was free, up a steep road with only a few spaces.
