About Near Howe
Tucked into a wild meadow at the top of a gravel track, Near Howe offers just a handful of grass pitches for smaller campervans (up to six metres), ensuring a genuinely peaceful escape. The backdrop is glorious Cumbrian fell country within the Lake District National Park, and walkers or cyclists can step straight onto footpaths and routes from the field—there's even secure bike storage if you ask for the key.
The modern amenities block keeps things tidy with hot showers, toilet, and washing-up facilities, plus a washing machine and tumble dryer (small charge applies). Dog owners will appreciate the dedicated wash area for muddy paws after soggy hikes, though the hilly location and narrow gateway mean only compact campervans can navigate the approach. Rainy afternoons are covered too, with books and games to borrow in the laundry room.

What visitors say
What a great place to stay. The location is fantastic- in the middle of nowhere, high up so great views in every direction. Watched a Great Spotted Woodpecker on the bird table from the living room. Bed really comfortable. Nice towels. Good kitchenette. Hot shower. All I needed for a couple of nights. Hope to be back.

Amazing place to stay! The cottages at Near Howe are immaculate, really well-equipped, and so comfortable. The views are absolutely stunning, and the whole setting is so peaceful. Great facilities, and we loved that it’s dog friendly too. Couldn’t have asked for more – we’ll definitely be back!
