Brackenhurst
Westmorland and Furness
Brackenhurst is a converted farmhouse cottage arranged around a cobbled courtyard with three others, surrounded by gardens and countryside near villages in Westmorland and Furness. The 17th-century building has been restored to keep its original character while providing everything needed for a self-catering break: a properly fitted kitchen, two bedrooms and two bathrooms, wood-burning stove for cooler evenings, and WiFi. Bed linen and towels are supplied. One dog is welcome to stay.
Inside, the layout feels designed for actual living rather than cramped touring. You have your own private garden with outdoor furniture, plus shared access to the wider grounds where you can find quiet spots to sit. A communal laundry room with washer and dryer means you can manage longer stays without packing excessively. There is a shared BBQ area if you want to cook outside, and a communal freezer available if useful. A pub sits within a mile, and walks lead directly from the cottage into quiet lanes and towards nearby settlements. No smoking inside the property.
