Croft Cottage

Ambleside sits at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, and Croft Cottage puts you within easy reach of the water itself, the fell paths that fan out from the town, and the cafés and shops lining the high street. The Royal Oak is less than a mile away. From here you can walk to Stockghyll Falls, take the ferry across the lake, or drive to villages like Grasmere in the surrounding valleys.

The cottage is a detached property with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, sleeping four. Downstairs there's a living and dining room with a television, and a kitchen equipped to cook proper meals—oven, hob, dishwasher and all the basics. Both bedrooms are en-suite: one has a kingsize bed, the other two singles. Bed linen, towels, heating and wi-fi are provided, and there is parking for one car on site. The cottage does not permit smoking.

The layout is straightforward and unfussy. This is a solid base from which to spend time outdoors, whether that's walking in the hills or pottering about the town. A travel cot and highchair are available if needed.
