Hazel Cottage

Hazel Cottage is a traditional stone cottage standing on a working hill farm high above Ambleside. The building sits among working land where Highland cattle graze—part of the character of staying here rather than apart from it. Six steps lead to the entrance, which opens into two storeys of simple, functional space. Downstairs holds a living and dining room with a television and DVD player, a kitchen with an electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher and fridge, and a bathroom with bath, shower and heated towel rail. Upstairs are two bedrooms: one double at 4ft 6in and one single at 3ft. The cottage sleeps three and is yours alone—no shared access, no other guests in the building.

Essentials are covered: electricity, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are all included. Outside is a sitting area with a picnic bench and access to a shared garden where the ground slopes noticeably; parking for two cars sits on site. The fell views reach across every window. The water supply is natural rather than mains. One well-behaved pet is welcome. Smoking is not permitted inside. This location suits couples or small families wanting genuine quiet, the working farm adding something real to a Lake District break rather than a manicured backdrop.
