Highwood Cottage

Highwood Cottage is a detached former coach house with stone walls, set on shared grounds near Ambleside in Westmorland and Furness. Everything happens on the ground floor: an open-plan kitchen and living room with French doors that frame views across to Lake Windermere, a separate dining area, a double bedroom, and a shower room. The kitchen has an electric oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. An enclosed garden and patio open directly from the living space, with a seating area positioned to catch the lake views.

Ambleside town centre is a ten-minute walk away, with independent shops, pubs, restaurants, and two cinemas. The Waterhead Pier, which dates to 1845, gives access to ferries across the lake. Nearby attractions include Wray Castle and Brockhole Visitor Centre; the National Trust's Stagshaw Gardens, with rhododendrons and azaleas, is also within easy reach. The surrounding area offers outdoor activities from sailing and rowing to climbing and abseiling. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. There is parking for one car on site. No smoking.
