Sedbergh sits at the gateway to two of England's finest walking regions. The town itself is modest and practical—a market place with local shops and cafés rather than a tourist hub—but the countryside around it opens onto the Yorkshire Dales to the south and the Lake District to the west. Mill House Cottage is a 17th-century stone building that has been updated with modern comforts without losing its character. It sleeps four across two bedrooms: a king on the ground floor with its own bathroom, and a three-quarter double upstairs served by a separate shower room.
Downstairs, the kitchen has an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, and fridge-freezer for self-catering. The sitting room centres on a wood-burning stove (initial logs supplied). Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included, and there is parking for two cars on site. The cottage has its own garden. A utility room with washer and dryer is available, though it is shared with other properties on the grounds.
The location suits walkers and cyclists particularly well. Barbon village, two miles south, has a shop and café popular with visitors exploring the area on foot. Kirkby Lonsdale, the nearest town of any size, lies a short distance further and holds pubs, restaurants and tea rooms. From here, the river walk to Devil's Bridge is a straightforward half-day excursion. Both national parks are within easy driving reach, and Arnside and Silverdale, plus the Forest of Bowland, are accessible as day trips. No smoking inside the cottage.
