The South Lakes attract walkers and cyclists year-round, and Ambleside sits at the heart of it—two miles from Sheilings, a detached house positioned on the lower slopes of Loughrigg Fell with direct access to the surrounding fells and tarns. The patio catches the sun and opens onto mature gardens; inside, an open-plan ground floor brings the light in through large windows. The living and dining space centres on a wood burner, with a well-equipped kitchen and a utility room (washer-dryer included) leading back outside. Upstairs are two more bedrooms. You get three bedrooms in all: one with a super kingsize, another with twin beds upstairs, and a further twin room on the ground floor alongside a full bathroom with bath and shower. A shower room serves the first floor. Beds have quality mattresses, and the essentials—heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi—are covered. One dog stays free.
This suits families and groups of six, or couples who want space to spread out. A pub lies within a mile. The garden has slopes and steps, and the patio is the real draw—a genuine suntrap with views across the fell. On-site parking fits two cars. Routes around Loughrigg Tarn, Todd Cragg and Elterwater start from your doorstep; harder walks up the Langdale Pikes and Fairfield Horseshoe are within reach if you want them.
