Striding Edge Cottage
Westmorland and Furness
View on Google MapsGlenridding sits in the shadow of Helvellyn, surrounded by mountain terrain that draws walkers and climbers year-round. Striding Edge Cottage occupies its own corner of this landscape, accessed via a rough track and positioned where a waterfall and stream run close to the property. The cottage has been recently renovated and takes its whole layout across two floors: downstairs holds the living and dining room with woodburner and French doors opening onto a garden, plus a kitchen with electric oven, hob, microwave and dishwasher. Upstairs there are three bedrooms – one double with ensuite shower, a second double, and a third with two single beds – along with a family bathroom with bath and shower.
Electricity, wi-fi, bed linen and towels are included. The property is heated by air source heat pump. Outside there is garden furniture on a front sitting area and private parking for two cars. One dog can stay free, though it must be kept on a lead given the sheep in the surrounding country. The water supply comes from a spring, and no smoking is permitted inside.
This works well for groups wanting a base to explore the fells, or for anyone drawn to the particular appeal of living alongside working countryside – the waterfall and stream are constant neighbours rather than a view from a distance.
