About Sir Christopher Wren Hotel
The Sir Christopher Wren Hotel sits at the bottom of Thames Street where the road meets Windsor Bridge, on the river frontage between the town and Eton. The core of the hotel is a seventeenth-century house long associated with Wren, who was Comptroller of Works at Windsor Castle and whose father was Dean of St George's Chapel. Over the years the hotel has absorbed the buildings either side, so it now runs to 138 rooms, suites and apartments across a terrace of properties of quite different ages.
That growth is the hotel's defining feature. Rooms vary enormously - some are low-ceilinged and beamed in the original house, others are plain and modern in the later additions, and a number have river views over the bridge and Eton beyond. It is worth being specific when booking rather than taking whatever is allocated. Apartments with small kitchens suit longer stays.
Facilities include the Brasserie, which spills onto a riverside terrace in decent weather and is one of the better places in Windsor to eat outside with a view of the water, plus Wren's Club gym and a conference centre that takes a good deal of corporate business midweek. Service is efficient rather than intimate, in keeping with the size.
The location is the strongest argument for it: the castle entrance is a five-minute walk uphill, Eton High Street is two minutes across the bridge, and both Windsor stations are close by, with direct services to Waterloo, Slough and Ascot. Parking is limited and charged, so most guests arrive by train. It works well for couples, families and anyone splitting time between Windsor and London.

Location, location, location! Though our room was very standard..clean...utilitarian, the service from the front desk, bell staff and breakfast staff was excellent. But the greatest benefit was the location...right on the Thames River and adjacent to the bridge separating Windsor from Eton. The castle and Eton College were just a few blocks in either direction. Lots of great restaurants, including Mango Lounge (Indian cuisine) are just around the corner. I would definitely stay at the Sir Christopher Wren again. My only recommendation....please replace the super-bright LED ceiling lights in your rooms with something a bit warmer and softer.....And that truly is my only negative comment.

We’ve walked past a few rimes when visiting Windsor and you really can’t beat the location. The original building is gorgeous with some lovely public rooms and a nice brasserie and outdoor bar terrace overlooking the river. Nice friendly staff too. We upgraded our club rooms booked on a secret escapes deal to the two riverfront rooms with terraces (rooms 39 & 40) - stunning views and great outdoor space in the sunshine. The rooms were both decent but a bit tired, same for the bathrooms but had nice bedding and comfortable beds. Good hot water pressure but older air con units, a bit mean with amenities, just 2 nespresso pods etc. We weren’t expecting 5 Star as it’s not 5 Star pricing and it’s obvious there are very different rooms and views over the 5 buildings - some are more updated than others - but the terraces made our stay very special. Pleasant food and good breakfast choices (I recommend eating earlier before the families arrive). Overall no complaints and may well stay again.

It’s just a couple of steps from the Windsor and Eton Riverside Station, so pretty easy to get with luggage and once there the riverside walk, Castle and Shops streets are just right next to it. The hotel has a chic royal vibe, our room was very comfortable with new furniture. I was delighted to see a usb-c port on both sides of the bed! Shower and bed super comfy as well! But what really attracted us was the breakfast, superb!!

This was our second stay at Sir Christopher Wren Hotel. We enjoyed 6 nights. Food in the Brasserie was good and the service was exceptional, including at breakfast lunch and dinner. The wellness area was really well equipped and very clean. The rooms could benefit from some modernisation including power sockets equipped with USB A and C outlets. It would also be great to enjoy a walk in shower, rather than over bath shower. Towels and bath robes were fluffy and soft, snd bed linen was crisp, providing a feeling of luxury and comfort
