Converted from an 18th-century agricultural building, The Granary stands within a courtyard of renovated farm structures set among open fields. A private drive leads away from the main road to this countryside location, though York city centre is only two miles off. The whole property is yours alone, with three bedrooms (a kingsize, a double, and a single with pull-out single) spread across two floors, plus two bathrooms to serve the six guests.
Downstairs holds a living room with Freeview TV and DVD player, a kitchen with electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher and full refrigeration, and a shower room. Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are covered. The utility room houses a washing machine and tumble dryer. Outside, a hot tub accommodates six people, and there is parking for two cars on site. A cot and highchair are available for younger children. The property operates as a non-smoking space.
York itself contains the Minster, medieval city walls, the National Railway Museum, and numerous restaurants and independent shops concentrated in the cobbled streets. Two golf courses, Waterworld swimming pool, theatres and a cinema complex all lie within two miles. Castle Howard stands 10 miles away, and the North Yorkshire Moors steam railway at Pickering is 25 miles distant for a day out across the countryside.

Perfectly charming place with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Close enough to pop in yo the city and experience all that York has to offer, and quiet enough for a decent night's sleep. Would recommend :)

Love this place, this was our second visit and it was just as lovely as the first. I love how they decorate the place for Christmas. It has everything you need and is a short trip into York. Great carvery across the road as well.

We stayed in Big Barn, a lovely 'home from home' cosy and comfortable cottage with everything we needed, in a pleasantly arranged, and peaceful, location, but only a couple of miles from York. We also really enjoyed the hot tub! Very relaxing after our daily outings. The owner was very helpful and friendly, and on hand if needed, but left us to enjoy our holiday in peace. We would happily stay here again. There's a Park and Ride to York (Monks Cross) only a couple of minutes away by car, as were the supermarkets. Also a Toby Carvery 5 minutes walk from the cottage. All very handy, but you feel as though you're tucked away from all the hustle and bustle in this peaceful and very pleasant location.

Such a lovely holiday cottage with everything we needed in lovely grounds with hot tub and games room. Close to York. WiFi a little slow at times but lots of happy memories made.
