What guests say
We stayed at B&B York for two nights in July during a particularly hot spell and had a very enjoyable stay overall. The location is excellent, just a 10-minute walk from the city gates and around 12 minutes from York Minster, making it ideal for exploring the city on foot. The only downside was the lack of air conditioning, as the room became unbearably hot at times. However, a fan was provided, and the thick curtains helped keep some of the heat out. The corridors were noticeably cooler, and we also appreciated the complimentary water cooler in the entrance hall, where guests could refill their bottles as often as needed. Our room was spotlessly clean and tidy, with a super comfortable bed and lovely bedding. The shower had excellent water pressure and was always lovely and warm. There were plenty of mirrors, plus thoughtful extras including a hairdryer and tea and coffee-making facilities. The staff were welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. Breakfast was excellent, with a generous selection of cereals, yoghurts and fruit juices available to help yourself. Cooked breakfasts are made to order, and both of ours were delicious. If we return to York, we would definitely consider staying at B&B York again.

The staff went above and beyond, so helpful! I had to leave early (before their breakfast sitting time) each of the 2 days I was staying but they made sure I sat for a beautiful breakfast each morning! The rooms was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Amazing value for money. I can’t recommend B&B York enough

Great place to stay, room small single, but decor comfort and cleanliness very good. Breakfasts incredibly good. Staff lovely always smiling (important), some of the staff went over and above helping me out, with a very heavy suitcase, and driving me to the train station when ordered taxi and uber failed to appear on time, top marks, and a big thank you.

Treated EXTREMELY POORLY after being the victim of a crime. I was due to stay at this hotel and looking forward to it. After spending the day in York, we decided to head back to our car and make our way to the hotel. When we arrived back at the car park, it took about 5 minutes to work out that our car had been stolen from the car park. After all the police bits, I called the hotel immediately to inform them that I wouldn’t be able to make it as my car had been stolen and I was happy to provide the crime reference number so they knew I wasn’t trying to pull a fast one. I was advised that unfortunately, there was nothing they could do, money wise as booking.com had already taken the money. The following day, I called booking.com to advise on the situation and they were brilliant and said they were happy for a refund to go ahead, that they had emailed the hotel to ask for this to be processed. However, the hotel refused to issue the refund. I decided to call the hotel and discuss the situation and was told ‘we don’t offer refunds in these circumstances’ I was flabbergasted! I asked what circumstances it took! I understand businesses need to make money but this was extenuating circumstances and completely beyond my control. Where is the humanity, where is the kindness? I am posting this review because I want to make people aware that this is how they treat their customers. They should be ashamed.
