Stayed here for a birthday weekend. The rooms were cosy with nice decor. The beds were extremely comfortable with ( I think ) feather down pillows. Room 11 has a stunning roll top bath which was amazing to enjoy after a long day of walking round York. The location is perfect with it being a 10-15 mins walk from the city centre. The hosts Michal and his family were so lovely and accommodating. We felt nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast every morning was perfectly cooked. A good selection of cereals, toast and fresh fruit and yogurt. The cooked options are very good too. I opted for full English and scrambled egg with toast one day. Very attentive and friendly, really cared about your experience. The free Parking ( car park at the back of the hotel) was great and saved the stress of finding and paying for parking. If I had to say one small criticism is that it would have been nice to have a couple of bottles of water in the room as I suffer with headaches and take medication, so bear that in mind - you may want to buy some to take with you. We had a lovely stay - thank you.

Can't really complain, Within good walkable distance to the centre and nice room too. Friendly staff, good breakfast selection and nice decor. The only problem we found was knowing which doors to use were quite confusing and there isn't much privacy, definitely not sound proof as could hear everyone walking around the halls but other than that was a lovely stay, thank you 😊

Last stayed here over a decade ago and in the interim the pub side of the business has been downsized and the hotel offering massively improved. We were on the ground floor (room 11) - big room and huge ensuite - full size roll-top bath and separate shower cubicle. Some traffic noise but not excessive and both slept well Ten minute stroll to the city walls, so didn't need to use the car - free car-park is a huge bonus. Decent breakfast with plenty of choice

I had a great stay here! Eclectic, fun room and so much more memorable than a corporate hotel. It was nice being out of the hustle and bustle of the city center, while only being a 10 minute walk to get there. The city itself is incredible and has so many things to see and foods to try. Michel was especially friendly and accommodating! I’ll absolutely recommend this to friends and will stay here if I’m in York again.
