About Clementines Guest House

Step into a room at Clementines Guest House and you'll find its own distinct character rather than a standard template - each of the 21 rooms is individually decorated, with an en-suite bathroom, quality toiletries and a mini-fridge stocked for drinks. Beds are comfortable, and there's a bridal suite for those wanting something extra. Free WiFi runs throughout.

Breakfast is a highlight, with a generous spread to set guests up for a day exploring York. There's a bar on site for evening drinks, along with a garden and outdoor seating for warmer days. Practical extras include 24 hour reception, luggage storage and a laundry service, and pets are welcome. On-site parking is available for a charge, useful given the guest house's position near York's city walls.

Beyond the doors, the area offers easy access to local attractions, with a golf course, pubs, restaurants and entertainment all nearby. The staff are consistently noted for being friendly and helpful, making Clementines a straightforward base for getting into the city and back with minimal fuss.

Hotel Clementine is very close to the city centre, making it easy to explore York on foot. The rooms are quite small, but they are beautifully decorated with vibrant colours, character, and personality, giving the hotel a unique and memorable atmosphere. The staff were excellent throughout the stay—friendly, attentive, and professional. Check-in and check-out were smooth and hassle-free, and the bar and common areas added to the overall experience. The main downside is the room size, which may feel cramped for guests with a lot of luggage. Guests should also be aware that luggage handling is self-service, as there is no porter assistance. During warmer periods, the rooms may become quite hot, which could be a consideration for summer stays. Another disappointment was the parking situation. The hotel only has a limited number of parking spaces, which can be frustrating for guests arriving by car. When the hotel parking is full, you may need to search for on-street parking or use paid parking facilities nearby, which feels inconvenient when already staying at the hotel. Overall, Hotel Clementine offers a comfortable and enjoyable stay with a great location, distinctive design, excellent service, and plenty of character. Despite a few drawbacks, it remains a pleasant base for exploring York.

Lovely Victorian property. Great location (close enough to town but quiet location). Superior rooms did need a small amount of TLC (lots of chipped paint that could so easily be touched up). Staff were very friendly in checking in, but didn’t respond to messages once we had arrived. Previous guests comment on the quality breakfast but although there is a menu in the room there are no prices displayed (nor on their website). Messaged to ask (no phone in room) , as they require notifying if you want breakfast, but didn’t reply (pre stay messages were replied to promptly). Not sure if that’s a deliberate way to get you to commit before you know the prices?…. So didn’t bother. Nice garden at rear

This beautiful hotel is perfect for a York break. It is a few minutes walk from the centre so gives you peace and the room to breathe without being miles from the action. Each room that we've stayed in has been individually styled: Room 19 was colour washed in aubergine, had mustard velvet curtains, tasteful art work and a really pleasing collection of classy furniture. The bathroom was huge with an excellent shower. The member of staff we met at reception was great - she even found us a phone charger when we realised we'd forgotten ours.

A lovely hotel that is very close to the city centre. We stayed here years ago when it had a different name but I would say the quality of the rooms has been elevated since we last stayed. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was delicious and served well. The room was immaculate, very clean and well furnished. It felt like a high end luxury experience without the price tag. I would highly recommend Hotel Clementine ☺️
