About Principal York
Station Road runs straight into the heart of York, and Principal York occupies a commanding position just off it, within easy walking distance of the city centre and its historic attractions. The hotel's setting puts guests close to the railway station itself, making it a convenient base for exploring the old streets, the walls and everything else the city has to offer, while the surrounding area offers plenty of pubs, restaurants and entertainment on foot.
Inside, the 167 rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and free WiFi, with family and accessible rooms available for those who need them. Guests can expect room service, drinks in the room and the option of kids' meals or a packed lunch to take out for the day. A restaurant and bar operate on site alongside a snack bar, and there's a garden for quieter moments.
Facilities extend well beyond the bedrooms: an indoor swimming pool, gym and spa with sauna give guests reason to stay in, while meeting rooms and VIP facilities make the hotel a practical choice for events and weddings too. Concierge services and luggage storage help smooth the practical side of a stay, and a nearby golf course adds another option for those looking to fill a spare afternoon.
Guests consistently praise this hotel for its clean and spacious rooms, which feature great showers and stunning views. The exceptional staff, delicious food, and convenient location next to the train station and city center are also frequently highlighted.
Some reviews mention the rooms can be dated.
