Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens

This should be 5 star review but i had to mark it down for a couple of reasons. On arrival we were greeted by a member of staff but the interaction was off, maybe it was a bad day or maybe it was due to the fact we were using Clubcard Reward points to gain entrance. Also just before closing there is a large siren to alert you that the site is closing, this felt a little oppressive and also put me of. That aside its great that you can use your Tesco Reward points to gain entrance as it helps families to visit these places if on a budget. The site itself is situated in a valley so some parts are hilly but there are plenty of signpost pointing you to easier routes. The gardens themselves are well developed and beautiful. The site is dog friendly as long as they are kept on leads. Plenty of shady paths to make the walk around comfortable for all. The walk to the view point over the coast is really steep so worth being mindful if you have buggies or disabled members of your party. The view from the top is breathtaking so is worth the short hike. The rope bridge over the pond is a brilliant idea especially for younger members and gives you an alternate view of the pond. Over all it was a lovely afternoon in nature with plenty of wildlife and pollinators for you to see.

Amazing and 2 ways to go round, disabled labeled way and harder. Fantastic walks through the amazing landscape,beautiful trees, foliage and plants. Red bridges and a rope bridge allow you to jump across tother other sides. Lots of moving water ways and amazing small life, dragon flies, butterflies and boat men. Just serene. Superb gift shop, and a lovely plant shop. Staff are wonderful and very knowledgeable. 5* +

Fabulous gardens with a lot of history. A large variety of plants from around the world. Stop off after for a coffee/tea and cake/sandwich. You can visit the cafe without going through the gardens. There is a shorter route for those in wheelchairs which has smoother and 'wobbly' terrain. We took the longer route which I would recommend if you have someone strong enough to push the wheelchair.

We loved it here. The gardens are beautiful. It is well laid out, with the main route laid out with arrows. You can go off piste with numerous other paths to follow. There are lots of trees with Rhodedendrons which were in flower. There are areas of bog plants and ferns. The path has numerous places to sit. The garden is divided by streams and pools which are crossed by small bridges and a rope bridge. When we visited there were a lot of people about, but it was easy to feel alone and find quiet places. We used the Gardeners World 2 for 1 card to help reduce the cost, but we felt it was well worth going.
