About Cults Hotel

Cults Hotel is a traditional stone hotel set along North Deeside Road on the western edge of Aberdeen, the kind of solid, long-established building that anchors a local community. Its character comes through most in the bar and restaurant, which have built a steady following for a kitchen that turns out roast lamb, fish and chips and seasonal dishes with care, served by staff who are consistently described as friendly and attentive.

Bedrooms are en-suite and come with drinks and room service available, along with the practical extras of free WiFi, 24 hour reception, laundry service and luggage storage. It should be said that some rooms have been reported as not always well kept, so this is a stay better suited to those prioritising the food and atmosphere over polished, boutique-style rooms.

Outside, the area suits walking, with golf and fishing nearby for those wanting to get out, and Hazelhead Park and Pets Corner within reach as a local point of interest. Aberdeen itself lies a short distance away, with further pubs, bars and restaurants around the hotel for evenings when guests fancy a change of scene.

We stayed here for 2 nights in a Standard King was not impressed in the decor of the room it definitely wanted painting and the carpet wanted replacing it had stains all over. The shower head only trickled out and there was no nice shower gel to wash with or any flannels or bathroom accessories. The Restaurant stood out far more than the hotel with excellent food and service. The cooked breakfast was very good.

2nd time I've stayed here and absolutely love the place! Amazing retro atmosphere, staff lovely, rooms a lil small but in no way uncomfortable. This hotel is good travelling distance for everywhere we roamed. Rooms clean and tidy, showers big and amazing although does have sudden temperature bursts. Food here is fantastic! Had both breakfast and dinners here and both highly enjoyable, well cooked and well presented. The lift is retro and fun, so hotel has disabled access. Close to local amenities and bus stop is straight outside the hotel taking you straight into aberdeen. One of my favourite hotels so far!

If this was a review for only the food, it’d be a 5, however our waiter forgot to put our food order on and it was only when we asked how much longer it would be after waiting for nearly an hour that they realised the mistake. They were apologetic and offered a complimentary round of drinks while we waited for the food, but for none of the staff to notice that we’d been sitting without any food for a period of time was disappointing and put a damper on the birthday celebrations. We then asked for some bread while waiting (it was nearly 9pm at this point) and were presented with some sliced bread which was a strange choice. The food itself was delicious, but we were so hungry by the time it arrived that we didn’t take the time to enjoy it properly and everyone ended up eating in silence. Based purely on the food, we would come back again, but hopefully with a less forgetful server the next time.

The restaurant, quality of food and service are first class. The rooms are old and dilapidated and in desperate need of a proper cleansome new carpet and being decorated.

Diners like this hotel's delicious and well-presented food, especially the roast lamb, fish and chips, and seasonal dishes. They also highlight the friendly and attentive staff, as well as the pleasant atmosphere.

Some reviews mention the rooms can be poorly maintained.
