About Macdonald Norwood Hall Hotel
Macdonald Norwood Hall Hotel is a genteel 19th-century house on Garthdee Road in Aberdeen, its period details still intact behind a grand exterior. The building sits within seven acres of garden, giving it a country-house feel despite being close to the city, and the grounds are as much a draw as the rooms themselves.
There are 73 rooms, furnished in a traditional style that suits the character of the house, each with an en-suite bathroom, and accessible rooms are available. Breakfast is served daily, and the on-site restaurant and bar cover meals and drinks without needing to leave the grounds. The hotel also handles weddings and meetings, with function space and business services for those visiting on business or planning an event, and reception is staffed around the clock.
Golf and fishing are both nearby for those wanting to get outdoors, while pubs, restaurants and entertainment options sit within easy reach for evenings out. It's a fitting base for anyone wanting Aberdeen on their doorstep but a quieter, garden setting to return to.

I went to stay there, with my husband and children. While I was visiting my eldest daughter. It was such a lovely old worldly hotel. With archery lessons and had a superb Mountain View. The food was second to none. The chefs name then was Richard. I would love to go again. But I would have to definitely check that’s it’s still the same chef. Anything else food wise i personally would see it as a come down. The room are gorgeous. It’s one beautiful hotels I have had the pleasure of staying at. Because the scenery and setting were truly spectacular

Great afternoon tea. Very relaxing (the baby with us slept most of the time, which was a good sign!). Amazing historic decor and very nice tranquil grounds. Staff very pleasant. Booked via email with a day's notice with no issues and they also proactively asked about allergies in advance and had actually noted that in the booking (which is a rarity from experience of online reservations for other places in the area, but was very welcome). Thanks!

I’m sorry to say our stay at Norwood Hall was a real mix of emotions. My wife and I were married here in May 2016, and I booked a room and dinner reservation to celebrate our ten-year anniversary. During booking, we were asked the purpose of our stay, and the restaurant also asked if there were any special considerations, so we naturally hoped the occasion might be acknowledged in some small way. Unfortunately, we were disappointed that there was no welcome card in the room, no “happy anniversary,” and no acknowledgement at dinner either. When I asked the restaurant staff if we could have one dessert to share because it was our anniversary, nothing was said — we were simply given two spoons. The room itself was pleasant overall, but there were a few maintenance issues that stood out, including scuffs and marks on the walls and a bathroom air-conditioning unit that looked close to coming away from the wall. That said, the building and grounds are still beautiful, and it was lovely to walk around somewhere that holds so many memories for us. However, we left feeling disappointed that despite making the occasion known in advance, no effort was made to make our return feel special ten years later. For comparison, during a stay in Vienna the week before, we mentioned our anniversary when booking and arrived to find a handwritten card, chocolates, and a bottle of bubbly waiting in the room. It really highlighted how much the small touches matter. It’s the little things that make a special occasion memorable.

Lovely location and hotel. Service was very poor. Night staff unhappy serving drinks at 22.30. Breakfast took 35 mins apparently they were busy but the restaurant was half fully. When it came some items were cold. Not what you expect of Norwood.
