About Marcliffe Hotel & Spa
Marcliffe Hotel & Spa sits in mature private grounds at Pitfodels, on the western fringe of Aberdeen close to the Bridge of Dee, and has the feel of a country house rather than a city hotel despite being only a short drive from the centre. Long private drives, established woodland and formal gardens set the tone before guests even reach the entrance.
Bedrooms are traditionally furnished and spacious, many overlooking the gardens, and the hotel's restaurant has built a loyal following for its Scottish menu built around local beef, game and seafood. A well-stocked cellar and a genuinely quiet, unhurried atmosphere have made Marcliffe a favourite for special occasions, weddings and business visitors wanting to escape the city centre without leaving Aberdeen altogether.
The setting suits anyone with a car, being a few minutes' drive from the Bridge of Dee and the routes out towards Royal Deeside, while still close enough to the centre for an evening in the city. Its grounds and relative seclusion make it a popular choice for those wanting a country retreat feel within the city boundary.

What guests say
We stayed at the Marcliffe for 3 nights. The hotel is beautiful, the food is excellent. My only complaint is that the rooms were a little too warm for sleeping. They did bring us a fan which was helpful and the windows in the room open. The service is outstanding. I’d like to mention a few of the names that I can remember that made our stay extra special. Thank you to Tony, Emma C, George and Matthew for making our stay extra special!

We visited for a 40th birthday party brunch and it landed on father's day too. We chose the new Skylark conservatory bistro and restaurant. To summarise the visit, it was absolutely awesome. The staff were terrific from the moment we arrived until our departure. The brunch menu was amazing value for money, given the location, the decor and the eating experience. It was well worth the extra £1 or £2 compared to other popular Aberdeen beach front cafes, or eateries in the town, where you pay a very similar price, for a much lesser quality meal. We all mostly went for the full breakfast but when the food arrived, I noticed I was missing my 2 x sausages, which came promptly after mentioning to the waitress. However, another guest didn't get her fried potatoes (which was an extra side) but this never arrived until she was almost finished her meal. Apart from that, everything was 1st class. The food was really, really tasty. Thanks to all the staff including the guest-arrival-man at the door with the tartan trews. He always smiles and jokes with everyone. Nice to be met by someone that isn't a stuck up grumpy old bloke as you enter the Marcliffe. The Marcliffe is a brilliant eating experience, and can wait to get into the restaurant to try out the new Executive Chef creations. Well done Jimmy and team.

This hotel was absolutely exceptional. From the lovely plush pillows to the extremely cosy robes this stay couldn't have been anymore comfortable! We also really appreciated how accommodating the maintenance manager was in helping us, unfortunately we can't spell his name but he was the gentleman from Hungary. The food was also out of this world and the hotel had so much character with every room having a name. I couldn't recommend this more, truly an incredible experience

The Marcliffe is a beautiful space and from the moment I walked into it, I felt very welcomed! My fiancé and I celebrated our engagement at the Marcliffe. It was a lovely experience and celebration. Beautifully decorated interior with a Scottish twist and lavish meals. From afternoon teas to delicious dinners, the Marcliffe is a special place I highly recommend! Tony also was the first person to greet us and we enjoyed seeing him as were at the Marcliffe too!
