Oak is a standalone bothy built in the traditional Scottish style, sited within Cairngorms National Park near Aboyne. The entire ground-floor space flows as one: a living area centred on a wood burner, dining space, kitchen, and a bedroom with a double bed that also has a sofa bed. A shower room completes the layout. Electricity, bed linen, towels and wood for the burners are all included; heating comes from the wood burner and electric central heating. You have sole use of the property, with private parking for two cars and a small garden with seating.
The kitchen has a fridge, oven and hob for self-catering. There is a bike store on site. The bothy suits those who want simplicity and quiet rather than crowds or entertainment; it works for couples, small families or friends sharing. One well-behaved pet is welcome. Check-in is after 16:00 and checkout before 10:00. Smoking is not permitted inside.

Where to start! Our experience with the bothies was idyllic. We stayed in Mountaineers and it was clean, comfy and cosy. The weather was warm when we stayed so we were slightly apprehensive to light the fire to cook and for hot water, however with the door and lounge window open the draught kept the bothy at a nice temperature. The bed was super comfy and the black out blinds meant we got a lovely lie in even with early sunrises. It's a great base to explore the local area. We came for a 10 year anniversary trip, took the bikes and went to Tarland Trails and then over to Ballater. The only downside was we weren't there long enough! We will definitely book again and be bringing our daughter with us next time.

5 Stars! These cabins are amazing. For someone who loves wood burning stoves and being in the outdoors, this honestly feels like heaven. I'm sitting on the deck writing this with the sound of cuckoos and other birds all around. It's magic. Couldn't recommend it high enough.

2-night stay at the Cairngorm Bothies, and "amazing" doesn't even begin to cover it. If you’re looking to unplug and reconnect with nature, this is the spot.

We had an amazing time here, spent valentine's day here and they did up the bothy very romantic. The forest around is very peaceful, and nice to walk around. The night sky was incredible when the sky is clear. I'd love to come back someday.
