Royal Deeside Woodland Lodges - Lodge G
Aberdeenshire
Royal Deeside Woodland Lodges - Lodge G suits couples, small families or friends wanting a quiet base without the formality of a hotel. The detached lodge sits on ground level with everything accessible from the entrance: an open-plan living and dining space, a kitchen fitted for proper cooking, two bedrooms (one double, one with singles) and a bathroom with bath and shower. Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included; there's parking for two cars on site and a bike store.
The lodge backs onto Muir of Dinnet Nature Reserve, part of the Cairngorms National Park, where wetlands, woods and moorland harbour deer, martens, squirrels and numerous bird species. Walking trails and hides are scattered through the reserve, and the Burn-o-Vat—a stream flowing through a vast granite bowl—is worth exploring for its strange rock acoustics. The hotel grounds include shared barbecue facilities and access to the adjoining Loch Kinord Hotel's restaurant and bar if you'd rather eat out. Beyond the reserve, the area offers fishing, pony trekking, mountain biking, archery, and skiing at the Lecht and Glenshee. Ballater village, known for its royal associations and independent shops, is close by; Aberdeen city is a short drive away. No smoking inside; one pet is welcome.
