About Brathay Lodge

Ambleside's shops, restaurants and the surrounding fells are all within walking distance of Brathay Lodge, making it a practical base for exploring the Lake District without needing the car every day. Cycling and walking routes lead off in several directions, and golf, fishing, horse riding and watersports are all available nearby for those wanting more than a stroll.

The lodge has 19 rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, free WiFi and drinks provided in the room. Guests get a continental breakfast each morning, with a good spread of fresh fruit, pastries and cold meats to set them up for the day. On-site parking is provided, which is a genuine convenience given the location, and staff are on hand to help with luggage storage and laundry throughout the stay.

Evenings can be spent at one of the nearby pubs, bars or restaurants, all within easy reach on foot. With Rothay Road putting the town centre and the wider countryside on the doorstep, Brathay Lodge works equally well as a stopover or a base for a longer stay in Ambleside.

Affordable, close to town and next to the bus stop, friendly and welcoming staff. Tidy room and in total the lodge was peaceful. Good breakfast with especially lots of fresh fruits, berries and yoghurt. The view from the room was beautiful. Our room was at the highest floor and there's no lift, but for us that was ok. Only one king-size blanket in the bed which we're not accustomed to, was the only (small) con.

I really enjoyed the stay- thanks Brathay Lodge! Location: Ambleside is beautiful and we were right next to a park for us (kids) to play in and do an Easter egg hunt. It has a wonderful view of the amazing Lake District's hills and mountains. Rooms: The room is very nice and the beds were super comfortable. The bathroom is great and the shower is quite spacious. The windows were easy to open to let some fresh air in, and the rooms were very clean. I really really really really really really enjoyed this. Service: Service is brilliant- breakfast is amazing. The people who run this b&b are very kind and freindly. Conclusion: Thank you Brathay Lodge for providing me and my family with an amazing place to stay in the wide, beautiful Lake District. Great place to stay. Room was very comfy and clean as was the bathroom (looked to have been recent refurbished) Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice of cereal, fresh fruit and berries, made a very nice change from a full English that most B and B’s provide. Would definitely stay again!

Very good accommodation and great location with parking on site. We booked for 3 rooms, 6 guests some having mobility problems and they were accommodated for with easy access to their car from their ground floor room. No cooked breakfast, which we prefer, but lots of cereals, fruits, meats, pastries etc. We’re all looking forward to our next stay.
