Saligo Apartment
Argyll and Bute
Port Charlotte sits on the Hebridean island of Islay, a conservation village where the shoreline and moorland meet. Saligo Apartment occupies one wing of Port Charlotte Hall, a Victorian building that has been restored to create three separate holiday lets. The apartment takes its name from one of the island's most striking bays, and it's designed to sleep eight across four bedrooms, each with its own en-suite shower room.
The ground floor holds a twin bedroom and a separate family bathroom, plus the main living spaces: a dining room and a generously proportioned living area that rises through two storeys under the original hall's high ceilings. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with gas cooking, a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. Upstairs, three further bedrooms—one king, two doubles—each open onto a galleried landing. The master bedroom has its own staircase at the rear. Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included, and there is parking for two cars on site. The apartment is non-smoking.
Islay itself draws people for its whisky distilleries, birdwatching (particularly for geese and eagles), and the raw landscapes of peat moorland and rocky coast. Port Charlotte has a village shop and the Isle of Islay museum, while ferries from Port Askaig and Port Ellen connect to Jura and the mainland. Families with younger children will find a travel cot, highchair and stairgate available.
