About Port Mòr Campsite
Port Mòr sits right on the beach in Port Charlotte, a conservation village on Loch Indaal's shore, with flat grass and hardstanding pitches just steps from the sand. Run by the local community trust, it's Islay's best-equipped campsite, offering modern showers, a laundry room, free wifi and a small café serving breakfasts and light meals. Fourteen electric hook-ups are available, and the sheltered layout suits families and touring campervans alike.
The village itself is a short stroll away, bringing the Port Charlotte Hotel, a well-stocked shop and the Museum of Islay Life all within easy reach. Bruichladdich and Kilchoman distilleries are a quick drive, Machir Bay's wide sands around fifteen minutes, and Bowmore roughly twenty minutes around the loch head, making this a practical base for the island's western side.
Book well ahead in summer—especially during the Fèis Ìle festival in late May, when pitches fill fast.

We camped at the sea front with campervan beautiful views. Very quiet site, pitches not very big but we fitted awning on. The cafe and facilities were excellent we had a lovely breakfast. The showers and toilets were really warm and spotless there were a lot of toilets and showers. The village of port Charlotte is 5mins walk and 2 pubs which do meals. There is a bus service. Would love to go back there again

Port Mor campsite is part of a really well kept and well run community hub near Port Charlotte, on the more north westerly peninsula of Islay. Comfortable, modern and well maintained showers and toilets. Indoor dishwash facilities plus laundry. Seafront pitches available but shelter is a bit limited so pitch near the playpark if that’s a concern for you. We took our VW camper and just angled it strategically against the strong southerlies then uncharacteristic easterly we experienced 🤣 Seafront area also a bit softer / wetter underfoot (had been some extensive rain before we arrived and it did seem to be drying fairly well though). The team are great, and the on-site cafe is open for decent hours every day providing hearty food and excellent coffee. All available to eat in (bright airy restaurant with sea views) or to take away.

Beautiful campsite for tents and also has several hard standing pitches for caravans with electrical hookup. Great facilities and restaurant on site.

The campsite itself overlooks the sea and the views are stunning however the pitches for motorhomes/ caravans are very small , much too close together and difficult to manoeuvre onto if there’s anyone next to you. Definitely no room for an awning. If your in a Campervan the size of a VW then your fine , if you’re in a caravan you will need to park your car at the top of the hill near the cafe. The toilets , showers and wash up area were very clean and the showers lovely and warm however they are part of the football grounds and are shared with anyone using the sports ground. The toilet block is also a fair walk from the pitches. None of this would be of any issue if the price was reasonable. It cost us £156 for 3 nights! £10 per night for the pitch and £14 per person ( 3 of us) per night . Lucky for us the dog was free.
