Small campsite on Isle of Islay with tent and campervan pitches, shower facilities, and an on-site cafe.
About Port Mòr Centre
Port Mòr Centre is a campground on the Isle of Islay taking both tents and campervans. The site is compact enough to feel manageable rather than overwhelming, with well-maintained pitches and sea views across the bay. Shower and toilet facilities are modern and kept clean.
An on-site cafe serves food and coffee throughout the day, which means you need not leave the site for a meal or hot drink. Port Charlotte village is just a few minutes' walk away, where you will find pubs and a bus service. The helpful staff can advise on what to do locally. The combination of a quiet, small-scale site with immediate access to both a cafe and a village makes it a practical base for exploring Islay's coast and countryside.

What visitors say
This campsite is in a fantastic location, and the facilities are clean, tidy and well maintained. From a practical perspective, there’s very little to fault. Unfortunately, the overall experience didn’t live up to the setting. The staff weren’t unfriendly, but they didn’t come across as particularly welcoming either, and the site felt quite sterile, lacking the warm, relaxed atmosphere that I’ve come to expect from campsites after travelling extensively over the past ten years. Most campsites have a genuine sense of hospitality and community; this one didn’t. It also felt very expensive for what was offered. Given the price, I expected a more memorable experience, but instead I left feeling that I’d probably have been just as well wild camping. One thing that struck me was that, despite visiting at the height of the season, the campsite wasn’t full. After staying there, I can understand why. The location is excellent and the site is immaculately kept, but for me it lacked the warmth and character that make a campsite somewhere you’d want to return to. I wouldn’t stay here again.

We camped at the sea front with campervan beautiful views. Very quiet site, pitches not very big but we fitted awning on. The cafe and facilities were excellent we had a lovely breakfast. The showers and toilets were really warm and spotless there were a lot of toilets and showers. The village of port Charlotte is 5mins walk and 2 pubs which do meals. There is a bus service. Would love to go back there again

Port Mor campsite is part of a really well kept and well run community hub near Port Charlotte, on the more north westerly peninsula of Islay. Comfortable, modern and well maintained showers and toilets. Indoor dishwash facilities plus laundry. Seafront pitches available but shelter is a bit limited so pitch near the playpark if that’s a concern for you. We took our VW camper and just angled it strategically against the strong southerlies then uncharacteristic easterly we experienced 🤣 Seafront area also a bit softer / wetter underfoot (had been some extensive rain before we arrived and it did seem to be drying fairly well though). The team are great, and the on-site cafe is open for decent hours every day providing hearty food and excellent coffee. All available to eat in (bright airy restaurant with sea views) or to take away.

A great campsite and cafe in a beautiful coastal location near Port Charlotte. Very friendly staff. Caters for motorhomes, camper vans, motorcycle campers and tents. Good, clean washrooms with a laundry. Dog friendly on your accommodation but not in the cafe (as is usual in the islands) but the Lochindaal Inn in Port Charlotte (10 minute walk) is dog friendly in the bar and serves good food. Thoroughly recommended.
