About Tarbert House
Tarbert House starts the day properly, with breakfast served on site before guests head out to explore Bowmore. There's a restaurant here too, and plenty more pubs, bars and eateries within easy reach along Shore Street, so evenings are just as well catered for as mornings.
Rooms are en-suite and straightforward, with drinks available in room and free WiFi throughout. A garden gives a bit of outdoor space to sit, and reception is staffed around the clock, so arrivals and queries are never a problem. Free on-site parking makes it easy for anyone arriving by car, a useful thing on Islay where a lot of the island's sights are spread out.
The location on Shore Street puts guests close to Bowmore itself, with fishing, watersports and entertainment nearby for those wanting to fill their days, and Bridgend Beach around 3.75 miles away for a change of scene. It's an unfussy base for exploring Islay rather than a destination in itself.
What guests say
This is a wonderful tucked away set of rooms. A wonderful host who made sure to assure you of the little things. Clean and well presented its not trying to be a be huge Hotel. a simple Bed and breakfast that fills you with the spirit of the area. Its the kind of place you simply close your eyes and tell your friends "just go there". Centrally located it is in the heart of everything and a great jumping off point off after you had a comfortably cozy night.

I stayed here with my son for a week. I was a bit apprehensive about staying in a B&B with a 4 year old but Tarbert House was perfect for us and we had full use of the kitchen if we needed it. First time we have stayed here and we're already making plans to come back. Covid meant breakfast wasn't the same as it was before. We thought it was fantastic! It was enough for our breakfast and lunch because there was so much. The co-op is a minute walk and a selection of places to eat out. We went to Peatzeria across the road our meals were delicious! I would recommend staying here to anyone. We can't wait to come back!

I am really sad to say that i never got to see the Islay. I made a booking with Tarbert House through booking website a month in advance. I went step ahead and confirmed my arrival and departure time which was noted by the b&b. But 2 days before my arrival date booking website contacted me saying that Tarbert House cannot accommodate me without (Tarbert House) giving any reason. The booking website found alternative but it was £100 more expensive and for 2 days stay was simply not acceptable. But what one would expect 2 days before arrival! When i contacted Tarbert House they blamed booking website for the double-booking, but somehow i was preferred customer a month before with evidence of communication, but this suddenly changed 2 days before arrival. Not very elegant and no courtesy to contact me directly. i had to cancel my ferry which added to the grief of having your well planned holiday shortened.

A cosy and comfortable room with ensuite. The shower is fantastic and the breakfast was great too. Very clean and tidy and recently refurbished. Would stay again for sure when I'm back on Islay.
