About The Black Fox
The Black Fox suits visitors who want to be within walking distance of Bath's attractions and the train station without fuss, rather than those chasing a boutique experience. It's a practical choice for city breaks, and the central address on St James Parade means golf, fishing, cycling routes and walking country are all within easy reach for those who want to combine the town with the countryside around it.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, drinks available in-room, and free WiFi, and the property runs a 24-hour reception with luggage storage for guests arriving early or leaving late. Breakfast is a genuine highlight, with waffles and local sausages served alongside the usual spread, and there's a restaurant and bar on site for guests who'd rather not venture out in the evening. Pets are welcome, which suits those travelling with a dog around the city.
Staff are generally helpful and the rooms are kept clean, though service has occasionally been described as inconsistent. Beyond the hotel, pubs, bars and restaurants are all within walking distance, alongside entertainment and watersports nearby for those wanting more than a city stroll.

What guests say
The Black Fox is one of those places you'll remember long after your trip. Perfectly located in the heart of the town, it combines a welcoming pub with comfortable, spotless rooms. The staff were exceptional. The two ladies behind the bar (I didn't catch their names) went above and beyond to help me solve an issue with my mobile phone provider while continuing to serve customers with a smile. Their kindness, professionalism and genuine hospitality made a real difference. The room was very clean, comfortable and quiet. After enjoying a great pint downstairs, it was wonderful to walk just a few steps and be in bed. Breakfast was also excellent, with fresh, tasty food and everything needed to start the day well. The service was just as friendly and attentive as the rest of my stay. I've visited many places, but genuine warmth and hospitality can't be faked—and The Black Fox has plenty of both. I would happily stay here again and highly recommend it. Thank you! Ευχαριστώ! Grazie! ❤️

We absolutely loved our stay. The location was perfect and convenient. So close to the station and the sights. We were a bit nervous to see only stairs and no lift with such heavy luggage, only to find out the friendly staff had already delivered our bags to our rooms! Would definitely recommend for your next time in bath.

Cute little pub with a range of beers, cocktail specials and cider. A smaller selection of pub meals including a ploughman's platter. Fresh and beautifully presented. Only challenge, the toilets are down a steep set of stairs so not accessible.

This place is terrible. AVOID IT! It was dirty and smelt sour. Room was very small. We decided to leave and stay somewhere else. We had prepaid for 3 nights and expected to pay for 1 of them since we checked early however no adjustment or apology was made for the other 2 nights. The manager basically blew us off. There are a lot of other hotels in Bath.

Some reviews mention the service can be unprofessional.
