Castletown Estate - The Eden Hideaway

The Eden Hideaway is a contemporary timber pod on Castletown Estate, a working farm just outside Carlisle. What sets it apart is the private access to the riverside—you walk straight out of the garden gate onto paths that aren't open to the public, making it genuinely secluded despite being minutes from the motorway. The views sweep across the River Eden towards the Lake District hills.
Everything is on one level. The open-plan interior combines a living area with a kitchenette where you can prepare meals, a king bed in a separate sleeping zone, and a shower room with heated towel rail. French doors flood the space with light and open onto a veranda with garden furniture. The pod stays warm with electric heating, and essentials including linen, towels and wifi are provided. There's parking for one car on site and a bike store.
The setting suits anyone wanting countryside quiet without driving far—walkers, birdwatchers, and people escaping for a few days will find it works well. One dog can stay free. The property is no-smoking, and check-in is after 15:00.

An absolutely idyllic glamping pod if you want to get away from it all. We had a couple of nights and we will be back again. It's such a tranquil place, so quiet, so picturesque. Good walks and just as good to sit and do nothing in the near silence, broken only by the chirp of a bird, the baa of a sheep, a moo of a distant cow or the ripple of the river Eden. Gorgeous place and the few people met whilst walking were as equally wonderful.

So beautiful and relaxing. The pod had everything we needed, super spacious and incredibly clean. You can see the cows and horses around the property, so there’s plenty walking trails around. The nearest town is Gretna which has some shops nearby to buy extra food. The location itself was quite difficult to find however, we found it in the end. Apart from that, it was a great experience and I can’t recommend it enough.
