The Larches is a detached cottage built into the wooded slopes of Whinlatter Forest, its principal rooms on the upper floor to capture views across the valley towards Skiddaw and Clough Head. Four bedrooms and two bathrooms accommodate six guests; the ground floor holds a utility room and three of the bedrooms, while upstairs the 27-foot living and dining space opens onto a belvedere—a raised summer house with decking—that overlooks the garden and the Derwent marshes beyond. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, the sitting room has a wood-burning stove (initial fuel supplied), and heating, electricity, Wi-Fi and towels are all included.
Outside, the garden descends the fellside with patio areas, furniture, and space for barbecuing. A bike store sits by the parking area. The location allows you to walk or cycle straight from the house into the forest, or drive down to Bassenthwaite Lake for sailing. Thornthwaite village has a gallery and tea rooms; Braithwaite, a short distance away, offers pubs, restaurants and a shop. Keswick is nearby for further supplies and attractions. One well-behaved pet is welcome. The property is non-smoking throughout.
