The Mill Race

Larger groups and families will find The Mill Race works well for a self-catering break. The property sleeps eight across four bedrooms, each with an ensuite, spread over three floors of a converted 18th-century mill near Penrith. Three of the bedrooms have king beds; one has two singles that zip together. Bathrooms come with either a shower cubicle or a bath with shower over. There is also a separate toilet on the first floor.

The open-plan living space on the top floor contains a woodburner, a TV with Sky Sports, and a fully equipped kitchen with an electric range, dishwasher and American fridge freezer. An underfloor heating system (oil-fired) runs throughout. Essentials like electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are included. The property sits on the banks of Applethwaite Gill with parking for three cars on site. A pub is within a mile. Smoking is not permitted inside. One well-behaved pet is welcome.
