The cottage itself stands on a working beef and sheep farm, so you get genuine countryside quiet alongside easy access to walking trails and Lake District attractions.

Mary Rook Cottage is a barn conversion with two storeys and a mezzanine level. The ground floor holds a bedroom with a king bed and TV, a separate bathroom with bath and shower, and an open-plan kitchen and dining space where you can cook properly. Upstairs, another king bedroom has an ensuite shower room, and there is a living and dining area with woodburner and a 40-inch smart TV. Both bedrooms have heating and storage. Large windows and glass balustrades on the mezzanine create an airy feel throughout.

The essentials are covered: Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen, towels and wood for the burner. A small lawned garden is shared with another cottage on site. Private parking for two cars and a bike store are on the property. There is a pub within a mile. No smoking in the cottage.
