Suncrest Cottage comes fully equipped for a week away without a shopping list. Electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included, plus initial fuel for the wood burner and a welcome pack. The kitchen has an electric cooker, hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, washing machine and coffee maker, so you can cook properly or keep things simple. Two of the three bedrooms have king beds and smart TVs; one has two single beds. The main bedroom has its own ensuite shower room, and there's a family bathroom with bath and shower downstairs. A separate toilet on the ground floor means less queuing when the cottage is full.
The layout spreads across two floors with a comfortable lounge centred around a wood-burning stove. Patio doors open from the kitchen to an enclosed courtyard garden with seating and tables. The real draw is the private wood-fired hot tub, which sits in the back garden and fits four people. There's parking for two cars on site. The cottage is set on the quieter western side of The Sunray complex in Weymouth, on Dorset's coast; the site's freehouse pub is within the grounds. No smoking inside. One dog travels free.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Every so often, you stumble across somewhere that reminds you what hospitality is supposed to feel like. The Sunray holiday cottages is one of those places. As seasoned travellers, we've stayed in luxury hotels, boutique retreats, countryside cottages and dog-friendly escapes all over the UK and beyond. We thought we'd seen the very best. Then we stayed at The Sunray. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this wasn't simply accommodation; it was the result of someone's vision, passion and unwavering commitment to getting things right. Not just the obvious things, but the countless small details that most places overlook and guests never forget. The cottage itself was exceptional. Beautifully designed, immaculately presented and effortlessly comfortable. Every room felt inviting, every space thoughtfully curated, every touch purposeful. There was a sense of quality everywhere you looked, but never in a way that felt showy. Instead, it felt warm, welcoming and authentic. What truly sets The Sunray apart is the feeling it gives you. Within minutes, the stresses of everyday life seemed to melt away. The pace slows, your shoulders drop, and you find yourself settling into a rhythm that's increasingly rare in modern life. As dog owners, we've become accustomed to places describing themselves as "dog friendly" when they merely tolerate dogs. The Sunray genuinely embraces them. Our four-legged companion was as welcome as we were, which immediately made the entire experience feel more relaxed and enjoyable. Anyone who regularly travels with a dog will understand what a difference that makes. And then there's the pub. Whoever decided to place a wonderful pub at the heart of the site deserves a medal. It became the centrepiece of our stay. After long coastal walks and days exploring Dorset's breathtaking countryside, being able to wander a few steps for fantastic food, great drinks and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere felt like one of life's great luxuries. No car keys, no planning, no hassle — just simple pleasure exactly as a holiday should be. What impressed us most, however, wasn't any single feature. It was the overwhelming sense of care. Everywhere you look, you can see evidence of people who genuinely want their guests to have an extraordinary experience. The craftsmanship, the attention to detail, the quality, the comfort, the warmth — it all combines to create something remarkably rare. There are plenty of places that provide accommodation. Very few create memories. The Sunray does exactly that. We arrived expecting a lovely break in Dorset. We left having discovered somewhere truly special; the sort of place you immediately start recommending to friends and quietly hope doesn't become too popular because you want to keep it all to yourself. To everyone behind The Sunray: thank you. You haven't simply restored a beautiful place; you've created an experience that stands head and shoulders above almost anything else we've encountered. Five stars somehow doesn't feel enough.

Recently stayed at one of the newly opened cottages at the Sunray with some friends and ventured to the pub for dinner and drinks. It completely exceeded our expectations. Set in the beautiful village of Osmington, straight away we were all made to feel extremely welcome and it made for a relaxing atmosphere. The accommodation is of a high standard, with a country style finish, room sizes are good, beds were comfy, showers decent and dog friendly. The food and service in the pub was also great, with decent portion sizes and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning soon.

We stayed in the 3 bed cottage and we were blown away by the decor and the amenities. Each room were well presented and well thought out from the comfy beds, the log burner to the hot tub, our family of 5 loved every second of it. A stone throw away from the cottage is the Sunray pub, with an excellent beer garden and a play area for the children. The food is exquisite and the staff can't do enough for you, the bar manager in particular. It was my birthday at time and they made me and my family feel like royalty. We will definitely be back again and would highly recommend a visit.

Exactly what I hoped it would be. As an American visitor, we were looking for a charming, traditional, quintessentially English place to stay with my family during a visit to the Jurassic Coast…and we were given exactly that. The booking was seamless, the interactions with staff were friendly and helpful, and the site was gorgeous - marrying the heritage of a special Dorset village with the modern features you hope to find in a top-tier accommodation. The kids had a great time exploring the grounds and the adults enjoyed the (particularly well-considered) food and drink at the on-site pub, the Sunray. We’ll be back.
